International Space Station Overhead tonight - twice

ISS_10thaugust2007_no2.jpg

Amazing 2nd pass tonight. Firstly a plane passed over parallel to it which, for some reason looked comical. Secondly, it got 3/4 of the way over and then vanished. I know that this was because it lost its light source, but it still looks weird.

Meteor shower.

The one happening now whch will maximise on the August 13th (Monday night) is the Perseids (PER).

Here is a link to more information and it is very good too.
Scroll up and down the web page for more info..:)

Just been reading up, you should be able to see the shower at its best on sunday night / monday morning with Mars visible :) . I know what im doing sunday night then

Cool. Ill just boot up my prog and have a look.. Will Mars be visible in the same place as the event, or just in the sky in general?

Mars will be visible from the East, and I believe a lot of the Perseids fly over around it, so ive read.

Ive seen a few tonight I think, and you will be able to see them / mars over the weekend / early next week so no rush :D its just on the sunday and monday you will see LOADS :) (I hope)

Cant see Mars on my star map thing.. It is low on the Horizon in Derby. It might pop up later in the night/morning Im not sure.

Here is the Midnight location (sun/mon) for the shower.

Green shower is the one to look out for the other two (circled red) I have no idea.

I'm new to all of this so I will just be looking up to the sky over the next few nights, looking for a red dot (Mars) and watching the Persides go by :p I dont think theres a specific location to look for them.

There isnt a specific location to look your right there but the point in the sky I have circled is where the meteors will originate from.

I have just double checked the location of Mars and its still below or on the horizon even if you are in London (im in Derby) and its below the horizon
