For the poeple who still missed it there is another viewing again at 00:33, so in a bout 1 and a half hours or so look here:

10 DEG ABOVE WEST
DURATION <1 Minute

Am I likely to actually see anything? (with the naked eye).

Is it Mars I can see south just above the horizon? I got my telescope out and got a good view of it but as it is only a cheapo one it was a bit blurry. That is the brightest thing in the sky for me tonight.
Jupiter, but you'll only be able to see it for another 30 mins or so before it drops below the horizon.

Mars viewings will be obscured by the moon at the moment.

Should be able to. It was really bright and you could just see the solar panels.

Excellent :). Now where the hell's 10 DEG ABOVE WEST :(. I'm a complete noob, and I'm in the west mindlands! (does 10 degrees above west literally mean west and 10 degrees up?).

According to Here and here tomorrow night, when I'm in Bournemouth I can see if for 6 mins at 9.45pm?

Solong as it's dark outside...so unlikely what with my new place being in the middle of town. :(

Shame I don't have a DSLR, then could maybe get some images...and not the planes from Bournemouth Aiport. :p

just a reminder, it's passing overhead again tonight at 21.45, same sort of place as last night but a bit more southern.

Dont know if i cn be botherd again tonight, i saw it 3 times last night lol.

I wasn't sure what I was looking for, but there is often a very bright star which seems to 'flicker' when it flickers it sometimes goes red amongst a few other colours but remains in the same place for quite a while. Though last night it was the other side of my house.

it moves fast, it crosses the horizon in a matter of 3-4 minutes.

If anyone missed it fear not... it doesn't seem to be a terribly rare occurence ^_^

All times there are in GMT so add an hour whilst we're still in summertime.

Up again today (the 7th):

1st: 21:44 - 21:52

2nd: 23:19 - 23:23

Add an hour to the times you've quoted or are those the correct times you've given?

I'll try for the 2nd run if I'm still awake, but my eyesight isn't up to much and I wouldn't be surprised if it was cloudy.

Hopefully on the 10th you'll be able to see Endeavour (space shuttle) up there too. :)
