Internet Atheism

They'd go to that effort because religion is an encroachment on society and its general well being. Globally, it is a negative force. People are literally dying or being left to die because of religion.

Show me true Christians who fly planes into buildings. Show me Christians who blow themselves up. It's good of you to forget all the good the church does. Of course it's easier to portray the bad, which is the reason why newspapers do so well.

What gives you the impression it can't be proven? Not being able to personally witness something happen over a million years doesn't equal unable to prove it exists.

Well if it can be proven then there would be no debate. Evolution is a theory, yes micro evolution is a fact and I would never dispute that, but there simply is no actual proof of macro evolution and would you not think we would have examples of bridging a species level.

Have raised this point before on this forum (many times) and if there was a definitive example (and if there was an example it would be easy enough to raise) then that would end the thread and the discussion..... but there hasn't and will never be.

Correct, but I'm sick of saying this so glad you did. I mean it seems obvious to me you have theism then you have atheism, two sides of a coin. You can't then shove 'agnosticism' which is a completely different word, with a different root in between them as a third option.

Furthermore whereas theism/atheism exclusively relate to the belief in a God or gods, agnosticism is just an general word that you can apply to anything. You can be agnostic over the moon landings for example (topical I know ;)).

As you correctly said.....

Theism/Atheism = Belief
Agnosticism/Gnosticism = Knowledge

...and both sets of terms are not mutually exclusive from one another.

This is way deeper than theology. This is men who hate God. Men who shake their fists into the face of God and in essence say, we will not submit to you, we will not follow you. These are the men heading straight to Hell.
It is difficult to hate God when god probably doesn't exist. It is difficult to worry about hell when it probably doesn't exist, either.

Hey, Jason2, you're almost as atheist as I am.

There's thousands of believed deities in this world, and you only believe in one of them, and reject the rest. If we took that number of deities to be 1,000,000 (a conservative estimate, given the Hindus have 400 deities and the ancient Hittites have 1000), your belief in just 1 makes you 99.99995% atheist. Whereas I am 100% atheist.

What is 0.000005% between friends? :)

 ha ha ha. Bring it on. :D

I thought the whole point of a christian god is that he is infinitely forgiving?

You only have to look at that bus campaign Dawkins participated in. Why would someone go to all that effort? Who really is after control here? It's the atheists.

LOL, are you being serious?

So you think religion doesn't constantly advertises it's self? There are no religious channels on digital TV I suppose, the BBC don't dedicate a lot of Sunday prime time to pandering to the religious? The HS's campaign is not about gaining control, it's about the religious organisations ceding some of the ridiculous amount of power they currently have.

You remind me of the kind of person that argues gay people wanting equal rights is about them wanting the whole world to be gay instead of just reversing the systematic abuse of rights they've suffered over the centuries.

If you are religious and can't see how much TV time, magazine coverage, property, influence of the law and elections you have then you are being wilfully ignorant.

This isn't about a genuine fear of atheism 'taking over' with Christians being marginalised and ridiculed by some dictator, it's about you not wanting to lose any of the unfair perks and influence religion currently, but shouldn't, have.

God is forgiving, but there comes a point when enough is enough. God would not be God if he didn't punish those who reject him. If you believe God is good then there has to be reward and punishment.

I can sleep at night ONLY because I know that those who partake in abuse will get their comeuppance.

Why do gays need marriage? It's always been between a man and woman. Why should we change that in order that we may not cause offence?

Well we should change it because religion doesn't have a monopoly on marriage. And your beliefs on what marriage constitutes shouldn't effect peoples happiness and legal status as a couple. It doesn't affect you whatsoever if a gay couple get married.

Jesus loves you Jason2, but everyone else thinks you're a ****. :D

Is it your carer/responsible adult's day off? Are you allowed to use the computer unsupervised?

I'd be very careful if I was you...

BTW, I don't see anything in that list about being an atheist.

You sound like an incredibly petty, weak and vindictive person. All admirable traits/qualities of the person who's currently championing Christianity (religion) in this thread.
