Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

Yeah I'd have to agree. I'm 5'7 (just) and I think height (or lack of) is a major disadvantage, at least in terms of immediate first impressions. Of course once they get a taste of my charm and rapier wit there's no escape! ;)

Whenever I'm out with girl mates, they are CONSTANTLY going on about someone's boyfriend and how the particular girl "can do so much better than him!". I've never heard any of the fellas in my social circle slate someone else's girlfriend. The closest it comes is, "well, she's not the type he'd normally go for but if he's happy, good luck to him."

When I was with my ex, one girl even said to my face that I could do so much better than her! I was like :o:mad:!

Personally, I think the ultra consumerism and celebrity culture of our society has affected women far worse than it has men, so many really are unbelievably and unashamedly shallow!

Apparantly dating the older lady can = amazing sex, out of this world!

;)

Agreed. Not to sure what it is about height for women. Do you think it's a genetic throwback? Some sort of perseverance of looking for the strongest, tallest males, like how wild animals pick and mate? Is that true of Mischief and BrightonBelle? :)

I actually agree. Height is definitely one of the criteria for me (having gone out with several short men in the past and not being able to wear my heels ;)) think its a body conscious thing as well though... women!

I'd swap my height for a pretty face. :)

This. And lots are just looking to sleep around now and then "settle" down with one of the nice guys they shun now haha. Though if anyone is fool enough, then serves them right lol.

Met my Romanian girlfriend online! Not on an internet dating site.. Facebook poker haha.

Congrats. :)

Still silly :p

Mate of mine passed on a really nice guy, like REALLY. He treated her well, was funny, good looking, possibly one of the nicest 'strangers' I've met in a few years.

She ended it after a month because he was 5'9" and she hated towering over him in heels.

She then went on to date a few men meeting her height requirement, but all turn out to be ****s. Cue her moaning about never being able to meet a nice guy.

FFS!!!

I've always wondered... Do guys feel uncomfortable or intimidated when dating taller girls? Natural height I mean, not when the girls are wearing heels.
I seem to attract a lot of short guys :o

I was out with one of my best mates on the weekend for a few quiet ones and then we decided to go clubbing to.

She is 6ft and decided to wear heels which were a good 5".

I'm 6'3 and even though I did feel shorter, I barely noticed it when we were out. It was nice to dance and talk to someone face to face instead of having to look down all the time and not being able to hear them down there.

I think i would only find it intimidating if she was a great deal taller, a big build and looked like she wanted to dominate me. :D

Hmmm, bit deep that.

Heights never honestly bothered me; If I came across a girl who wouldn't date a smaller guy, I'd instantly think that they were very submissive and didn't like to lead a relationship, so to speak.

Well I was with my ex for 7.5yrs (he was 5"7), and I have been on a few dates with guys who were same height as me (or shorter when I have my heels on). So it's not like I haven't given shorter guys a chance or anything! I just prefer taller guys that's all.. feels awkward holding hands/hugging/kissing etc a guy who is shorter :o

I think its cute when a girl has to go on her toes. But if you go too short then it definitely does get awkward! Feels like you're looking after a kid.

Obviously it's your choice and I'm not one to judge; I'm also very picky over certain looks, but I don't see height as an issue and certainly wouldn't get rid of a girl if they didn't meet my height requirements.

Why is it a body concious thing? What are you concious about being next to a shorter guy? Just trying to understand the mindset I guess! :)

I think it's a bit different for girls when it comes to a guys height. Most girls would like a guy who is taller, bigger built and can offer the sense of protection etc. If I was 5"5 or something, then a guy who is 5"8 or shorter wouldn't be a problem.

To me it's not about 'finding a tall guy', it's about finding a guy who is taller than me.

It's just one of those standard preferences that's drummed into women from an early age. The bloke is expected to be taller, as MisChief says it's a protection/security thing, at least in appearance I guess.

We all have our own preferences which are largely similar to the height thing. I couldn't date someone who couldn't hold an intelligent conversation for example. Or someone who didn't enjoy sarcasm. Or someone very obese, or very skinny. Not particularly nice to admit, but hey, they're our preferences and we can't always do too much about them, they just 'are'.

I'm 5'10" and all except one lass that I went out with for any length of time has been shorter than me. She was 6'1" and often wore heels, but we both found it funny when we were out. She was all legs anyway, and let's face it, we're all pretty much the same height when we're horizontal :)

I'm 5"8 and I love my heels :D
My ex was 5"7 and I couldn't wear any heels. Never am I going to date anyone shorter than me again :o I once received a message on PoF from a guy that was 5"6 :/

LOL dont get me wrong, i love my woman wearing heels...luckily for me my current gf loves her heels and it gives her extra height as well....its when she takes them off and is walking around barefoot or in her flip flops that i realise just how tiny she is....shes 5'2 without heels and around 5'5 in heels.

But did ask tell her "was that X guy a **** to you?"

I hate the fact that I am 'bigger' (in all senses of the word) usually taller men are bigger built - except maybe my ex :/

Yup ;) nail = head.

Im in the "short guy with a tall lady just looks wrong" camp as well. I'd prefer a man to be taller than me, but then i'm 5ft 3 so its not very hard! :D
