Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

Sorry for being lazy and not reading the thread, and apologies in advance for being a noob. Decided to give this online dating a try the other day. Signed up on POF (man, that place is scary) - by chance stumbled across someone fairly local who seemed both attractive and intelligent with similar interests to me. Ideal.

Dropped her a message, she replied straight away and we've been sending a few back and forth. Seems to be going alright... Here's where it gets a bit hazy though. I have no idea about the general online dating etiquette. If you're interested in meeting the person, what's a fair length of time before you try and take it further? Dont want to chat too much online in case we do end up meeting and will have exhausted all our talking points :) Is asking for numbers/Facebook a good next step?
 
Next week will be our 1 year anniversary, which will comprise of dinner, the theatre, and a night in a five star hotel on the Thames. I think she will be pleased :D
 
well i gave her my number, got a text a few days later and we are meeting up next wednesday! First date in a long time!

One thing thats really bugging me is the text messaging, does this happen with everybody else? I send a message/reply and tend to get one back anywhere between 4-12 hours afterwards. The conversation is kinda pointless when its so spreadout! Very frustrating! I don't tend to reply instantly but its usually within 15-20 mins! Its probably the same with everyone!

Depends how long you've been chatting. I'd say it's all good asking to meet up after a week or so of online activity. Just a casual drink somewhere near where she lives to make her feel at ease in a familiar environment. Say what you will, until she meets you, she doesn't for sure know that you are who you say you are.

I've done it on purpose a few times, either cause I can't be bothered, or I don't want to come across overly keen/needy, some do it for the illusion of missing them, makes you think about them more, wondering why they've not replied and this tends to get people more interested/go a bit nutty with desperation :p

i understand your frustration lol. but some people don't check their phone every few mins or are in the right situation to text back. my message tone is a simple 'click' sound and sometimes i just don't hear it. or the person could be driving, with friends (rude to text when you have company), busy doing things that require your hands etc. or sometimes when you're busy, you think 'i'll text back later when i'm free' and you end up forgetting.

hope that relieved your frustration anyway :p

Dates tonight with her, meeting at half seven, haven't been this nervous in ages it like being in my teens again! hehe

OK, quick question for you all. How many of the people you've been on a first date with from the Internet have you kissed at it's conclusion?

2/3 for me, and they've both been very good looking, fun girls.
 
Been seeing my girlfriend for 5 weeks now that i met on match, she's the 9th girl ive met from there since splitting up from my ex.

As for roadies question, first date, kissed 4/10, kissed 4 others on second dates and not kissed two.

on actual dates, every time, so I'm 3/3, even non-internet based dates, I did however try to kiss a girl I'd met through a dating site, though it was our second meeting, and apparently neither time we met was a date, so it doesn't count in my books ;)

If I don't think there'll be a 2nd date I won't kiss them, assuming they more than 3 have wanted a kiss.
 
I'm sure dating sites are great, so long as you don't happen to be the world's most boring person - like me!

I do have a great story about the day I bought a new USB pen drive...

did you pay for 6months or...

would say the pay sites are much superior to free ones and the girls of better quality (dont mean that to be too derogatory :p)
