Called it off last night with the girl I'd been seeing for the last 4 months from PoF, really liked her but things in the bedroom were less than exciting. Told her face to face and I must say, she made me feel like a **** for my troubles...

Wow, 139 pages.

After having grief from friends for being single to long, even my boss has told me that i should join a dating website :o (yep, that is a new low)

Any advice on what sites to use? I dont mind paying to use sites, but only if it gives a better service. I`m going to read through the feedback written here so my profile gets some interest -though it may take a few days!
 
I've had a few dates recently, one was a dead loss, I turned up she turned up turned out she couldn't strinmg a proper conversation together without me doing all the talking, so explained there and then that I felt it wasn't working we agreed to go our seperate ways.

The one after that was a total disaster, she was so forceful it was uncomfortable, it was clear she fancied me, but she got really mad if I didn't reply to text messages instantly so I found a gentle way of saying thanks but no thanks.

The most recent one went really, well I had a kiss and a cuddle after the first date, but had the message the following day to say she wanted to be friends only, met up with her a few times after and not heard a thing since.

It's a funny old game this.

Can't your friends/boss help you out by introducing you to their single female friends, etc?

Use the free sites like plentyoffish and okcupid first. If you have no luck on the free sites, then move onto the pay sites like match.com and eharmony.
 
So 2.5 weeks ago I moved from Nottingham to Edinburgh for work. I thought 'you know what, I barely know anyone here, lets give PoF another go, even if it's just to meet some new friends'. Anyway, messaged a few people, didn't get much back then found someone and we hit it off. Got a first date coming up this weekend and I haven't a clue what to do. Neither of us want to just go to a pub and want to do something a bit more 'fun'.

Any suggestions that won't break the bank but will let us get to know each other without just sitting in a pub?

It's been so bloody long since I've done actual dating that I've no idea what to do :(
 
Easy....bowling or ice skating, though these days they both bloody break the bank!

Don't go to the cinema or you will be slated forever and ever on these forums! :)

Good suggestion.

See if there are any outdoor ones in Edinburgh. You'll get a chance to hold her hands and stop her falling over, etc. :D

Ice skating is expensive (well in London anyways!), but it is much better than going to the cinema as you'll get to interact with each other.

It doesn't matter if you can ice skate like a pro or not. I went on Sat with a girl I met at a friend's birthday party a week earlier. I was a worse ice skater than her (i.e. I haven't been for ages) but we managed to have fun. We completed a few circuits of the rink.. I was holding her hand and stopping her from falling over. ;)
 
Cheers, exactly why it's a good place to start.

Plus you can judge her sense of humour and she can with yours. If you can't have a laugh together...it's not going to work :)
 
Right heres a little question, I have a son, who doesnt live with me and i see once a week, would you still select you have children in the profile screen?
Or select no, but in the description bit add something about it?

Now for the last couple of months ive had it as Yes - But last night i changed it to No and today ive had 3 people message me, coincidence maybe but still odd.

I did exactly the same and got more messages. I actually state in my summary I have a son I see once a week though. Its just so I am not filtered out in the beginning :)
