Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2

thats what i was wondering. can i go back to IE 7 ok. just uninstall in add/remove programs?

I think it's in Windows Update, not Add/Remove Programs, but yeah you can roll back easy enough.

Or if you only want to switch because of web pages not looking right, you can run IE8 in an emulated mode.

god i always thought people used ie7 because they didn't know about better alternative browser. shame that microsoft released such bad browser and forced people to put up with it. if firefox didn't exist i wouldn't be online at all

IE7 is an excellent browser. It's built in to the OS as well so there really is no need to install extra software just to perform the same function.

And yes, I've tried Firefox, Opera and even Safari. None of them stack up to IE7 as far as I'm concerned.

Looking forward to the full IE8 release :)

Bang on the head. A web browser is a web browser, no need for adding on extras etc

IE8 beta seems fine so far..couple of weirdly rendered website (for example this forum, sig's were being displayed on the middle of each post), that, and certain online banking sites did not recognize the browser type.

And yes, it can be uninstalled (in Vista, just look for it under windows updates - remove as usual)

There were things I liked about the beta and things I didn't, so I have gone back to IE7. Using the add/remove, it uninstalls cleanly and everything is back to how it was.

I tried IE 8 for about a week and i've just gone back to IE 7 which is so much faster.

IE8 is still very buggy. there were some improvements but they need to sort out compatibility and speed issues.

I ment from std, not using a 3rd party plugin.

Nice goalpost shift. IE can't play video or show SVG images if you exclude plugins, and what did you expect from an open source browser?

Edit: For the curious, Mozilla did attempt to recruit those folks to help with MSI/GPO versions of Firefox, but nothing came of it...
