Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2

Bad browser? Explain, I use ie7 + ie7pro for 90% of the things and firefox 3 for mainly porn and warez etc... I don't find it any more pleasant to use than ie7, in fact I miss some of the IE7pro features such as rmb draw controls... Only use FF as it's considered safer...

By rmb draw controls i assume you mean Mouse Gestures? Which are available like everything else as an extension for firefox, or built in to Opera.

ie7pro does things for IE that are great, but its still second rate to Opera/firefox. And tbh, if you want to browse "porn and warez" securely, i'd actually sugest IE in protected mode with UAC turned on, or just general common sense really ;)

Yeah I thought so that there'd be plugins, I'll have a looks for firefox.

As for ie secure mode: Won't happen, I'm using the hidden admin account which means UAC is in stealth mode and protected mode can't be enabled, so firefox is a bit more secure :p.

I installed IE8 beta 2 today and so far quite impressed, seems a bit faster than IE7. Personally I don't like firefox, cant get to grips with, probably just too used to IE and admittedly don't give firefox enough time though I have tried a couple of times.

and when I open a thread it goes to the bottom of the page, so I have to scroll back to the top to read it:mad:

Internet Explorer is just a failure so I suggest you whip out Opera or firefox.

More importantly the VM image will all have the same software configuation, which does defeat the point. On the other hand, you probably shouldn't be testing beta (if that)-quality software on a production machine...

Hardware can cause problems though, specifically in this case network adapter, which would be emulated.

IE doesn't work at that level in the OS, neither does any other browser. IE won't "see" the network adapter, as long as there is an available tcp/ip stack it won't care what the adapter is.

That isn't the reason that Microsoft released the beta. They want functional areas of their application tested with as many websites as possible. They really couldn't give a toss what configuration people are running, because nobody ever fills in bug reports properly (if at all) with that level of detail in open beta programs.

There is a lot to be said by testing functional areas with a known, baselined configuration.

In which case the bug reports are worthless, just given the gajillion different versions of Flash and Java.

Well yeah, but that's what automated testing is for...
