*** Internet Explorer 9 Final Released ***

Too little too late, I've really got used to FF and chrome, IE isn't going to win me back now. I have too many saved passwords in ff, and I'm used to the plugins.

I do use chrome for fast browsing occasionally
Flexibility and availability of addons is certainly FireFox strength, although how it's going to compete with a Google backed webkit browser like Chrome long term is a tough one.

Outside of tech enthusiast communities I would guess Chrome is taking more market share from FF than IE because it directly targets the same market. It'd be a shame if Chrome pushed FF out the same way IE did to Netscape in the 90s

Meh, reads like you'd expect for a article that started with a title of "10 reasons why FF is better than IE" and then tried to come up with 10 reasons...

9. Standard support is a plus

Mozilla realized that support for integral Web standards was an absolute necessity in Firefox 4, and the organization delivered in a big way. Among other features, the browser has ample support for HTML5, including WebM high-definition video. As Mozilla itself points out, Firefox comes with support for "3D graphics, offline data storage, professional typography, touch screen interfaces, and the Mozilla Audio API to help create visual experiences for sound and more." Combine all that and one will find an outstanding browsing experience in Firefox 4.
Doesn't mention IE9 even once much less actually do any factual comparison of web standards support.

I think 2 misunderstandings have gone on here, my post about the adblocking being a laugh was in reply to marc's screenshot showing the gigantic gaps left by the adblocker - That is a laugh hence why I posted it but ultimately I guess that is my fault for this because I could have worded it better or at least quoted marc's post. It wasn't intended to be rubbish but looking back I suppose it it did seem that way.

The tabs location bit I already acknowledged (and mentioned twice now since then) but I didn't see anyone bring me /up to task/ on the tab gap issue if that's what you meant? Apologies if they did and I missed it but I haven't seen it.

To be fair, you do come across as trying to stir the pot, so to speak. I also find this the case with your posts about mobile phones as well.

I'm not sure it's intentional, but I just thought i'd say.

Can you link to a mobile phone one? I use all 3 phone platforms through work and leisure I tend to post about these from hands on experience than anything else.

Of course the usual jokes about iPhones or whatever are just that and everyone does it too, it's just the current injoke. Tomorrow there's going to be another and so on and so on.

Been using IE9 for the last couple of days and must say its very good so far , im really pleased with it , i still have FF4.

i cant notice any difference in speed from any of the browsers. Will use FF4 as well but to be honest all the browsers are the same to me , im not that bothered about addons as i only ever use the ad blocker and nothing else.

i've just been googling to see if there was anything better for blocking ads in IE9 and it brought me back to another thread right here on OcUK.

i'm very impressed.

Thank you for highlighting this, it works a treat...

I've installed it and i'm not liking it at the moment. Maybe i just need to get used to it but i miss the search box :(

Sometimes when i type something into the brower is tries to add www. .com .co.uk and it throws me. It gets in the way too much. Having it intergrated might have been a good idea on paper but it practise it's a bit of a fiddle. Is there a way to change it back?

Also i the only two bars that can be on the same like is the Command bar and the Favorites bar. I'd like to combine the tabs and command bar like in IE8, i can't seem to drag them in the same line. I like the favorites bar on it's own as it gives more space

overall the GUI for IE8 was much much better
