How're you getting 30Mbps?! Are you part of their 50Mbps trial or something?

AFAIR the upload is not 768Kb (current on the 20meg) on the 50meg test.

Upload is 1.5Mb on the 50Mb trial.

Chances are it is just a strange result. I've had over 60,000 kb/s from that site before, which is obviously not accurate seen as I'm on 20Mb

My speeds are quite consistant and I've done the tests using different variables such as different numbers of LAN users online, checking whilst torrenting etc.

Not really had an issue in the 120days I've been back with VM, not had to reboot modem or router either!

All tests done from my machine btw which is connected via Wireless-G.

The network guys wouldn't give a hooey, but my boss would rag me to hell if I was caught. I think RTSs or group RPGs may be the only thing I'd play with a massive ping like that, even then the gaming experience would be naff.

Read too quickly, thought it was your home service. Had you pinned as a student.

Playing BF2 once I saw a guy with the best ping i've ever seen in 2 years of playing. I had to ask him and he said he was playing through a Cambridge Uni 100Mbps connection

Repeated the test and got a proper ping of 15ms, I was folding at the time and it must affect the browsers ping calculation. Gotta love Janet!

If you start the actual download at 8:59pm, you will still get capped if you go over your limit.

You want to avoid capping, limit both your upload and download speeds to the settings shown on the VM site between 4pm and 9pm, max it the rest of the time.

dunno, i was getting 30mb for about 2 hours last night and then it went back, checked on a few sites.
