Yea it must be - we have a helluva lot of very large clients, such as Jaguar, Sony etc that store their marketing collateral on our system (the manage part of things) and we host it all on our servers in our main office - where I work.
We must be on some sort of backbone. The connection were on is obviously shared among all the floors, and the client sites share a different connection - wonder what that speed is like! :D
 
Spoke to them just now and apparently the modem THEY supplied me with isn't capable of 10mb :s So they are sending me a new one free of charge but its not coming till the end of the month!

But something even faster is on its way. Beneath the streets of Paris two companies, France Telecom's Orange and Free, are laying down fibre-optic cables to bring speeds of up to 100Mbps to homes in parts of the city.

So what does 100Mbps actually look like? Orange provides a helpful table showing that it would enable me to download an HD quality film in just 40 minutes, as compared with more than eight hours on an 8Mbps line.

100/100 is commonplace in Sweden, with even 1GBit/s available. Whats happening in France is nothing new.

I live less than 300 meters from the exchange in maidenhead lol.

Thankfully i cant see it though ;)


Going to be moving nottingham was soonish, so no doubt i will soon be dropping back to the normal below 8mb speeds :( lol
