Check the WiFi channels aren't overlapping with the neighbours.

Make sure it's on 5ghz network and not defaulting to 2.4ghz, you might have to split the WiFi channels so you have 5g and 2.4g separately.

Wall socket hard wiring isnt that great, the speeds vary depending on quality of wiring etc

What speeds are you seeing on other devices?

What speed is your internet?

What WiFi router do you have, sky, talk talk etc

Wifi extender
As in it picks up the wifi signal from the router
Then passes it to pc by ethernet?

Or a powerline adapter
Where it's sending it through your home wiring
Then ethernet to the pc?

Either way
Direct ethernet from the router is always best option
Though a PITA sometimes to run the cable

wifi other devices 400mbps , not a clue about splitting wifi signalz

wifi other devices 400mbps
Where though, is this next to the router or next to the PC in your sons room?

Post the make and model number of the "extender" because it isn't clear what you are using.

sx_turbo asked what router you are using?

Can you buy a cat5e / cat6 ethernet cable and run it between the router and PC?

yes i can buy does the lengh of it matter ? will be 7 meters in totals , do you have a link to aextender kits ??

If its only 7 meters
Just save yourself time and buy the ethernet cable
7 meters is a very short run
Won't be a problem
Am assuming you have something like 500Mbs service?
Cat 6 cable or 6a should be more than sufficient

Edit
This sort of thing
May be longer than required
But better too long than making your own
The exact length

If theres a way to run a cable from the router then thats the best connection you will get, we can only post links to overclockers shop because its their forum but they have a selection of cables so you just need to pick the one you want thats long enough.

eg:

or

But I dont understand why you were using an "extender" if its only 7 meters from the router, what extender was it?

Edit: Cables can be upto 100m long without issue.

To be fair
He might mean 7m vertically lol
Ie on another floor of the house

But yeah if its 7m on the same level
Then just run the cable
Will probably be faster than us having to figure out
Exactly what they have/are using

ill move pc next to router tomorrow and see if that does it before i buy a oing cable and have to run it through house , its on same level new to the game and speeds not really botherd me but when it took him all day to download fortnite and 2 days for cod and its still not finished was thinkjng there’s issues

Yeah although modern games are large
If you indeed have 500Mbs (guessing here by you said 400Mbs on phone)
A rough guide would be
Download of 60 MBs that's megabytes not megabits
So approximately 3.6 GB downloaded per minute
Or approximately 1 hour to Download just over 200GB
200GB should be more than the size of most games

Game servers might be being hammered, depends how many people got shiny new PCs / Consoles for Xmas.

I'd pause the downloads on his PC and try speedtest.net / fast.com to double check the connection that way.
