iOS 4.0 has been released!

I may give it another go today, it just hung on the same thing for 5 hours!

Did you try the fix that was linked to in a post above? It was a macrumours forums link. People who had some issues with the update deleted the contents of a logs folder and it seemed to work. It didn't really speed things up for me but it's maybe worth a try.

FYI: I always restore to new firmware using the recovery mode.

In the case of my wife's phone I then restored from backup because she isn't tech-savvy.

When was the last time you backed up?

How much free space?

About a week ago, however that doesn't matter as it always backs up everything in my experience and the backup a week ago was a "new" one (deleted the old ones) and that was again < 5 mins.

If it makes any difference this is on a Mac Pro with 10.6.4 and a SSD.

As for the GM = iTunes, if the only thing gone is the Game Centre (which actually works by the way, i've signed in and started using it, just no friends atm as no-one I know is using the GM build!).

Either way 4.0.1 will be out soon so i'll change to it then ;)

Just tried updating my 3g, its broke :( it won't even do a restore!
im now downloading the 3.1.3 firmware from a site to try restore from that instead GAHHH

mine installed fine luckily, I keep forgetting I can do 'half-arsed-multitasking'
trying to find somewhere to live atm its really good flitting between map, e-mail and safari:)

that and I got 8 pages of apps down to two pages now:) looks differnt tho, miss my icons:(

Hmm, been using my 3G for a day so far on OS4 [I refuse to call it iOS! :p]

Thoughs: Meh.

The whole iPhone is a little slow at opening some applications - especially Mail and I only have two accounts. The combined Inbox could have been better - specifically I would have liked to be able to add in subfolders to the Inbox view, but as per usual Apple never take that extra tiny step.

I do love being able to have all my subfolders pushed to my phone in my Exchange account. Though again, as above, Apple fall short and don't support it for GMail. Seriously, how hard is it to sync all my bloody folders?

Oh well, luckily I do most of my emailing at my PC, so wont let it bug me. Not too bothered about performance - new iPhone after the weekend! :p

Working perfectly here (16Gb 3GS) and so much quicker! Safari is at least 2x quicker at everything; startup, opening pages and loading pages. Multi-tasking works very well and is very snappy. Battery life appears to have improved slightly but it's early days yet.

Will possibly have to look for a new SatNav as NDrive appears to be no longer in development :(

iPhone 3G 16GB here, just updated to iOS 4 and now the earpiece speaker is unreliable.

First call I made with it was fine, second had no audio through earpiece at all (tried 3 or 4 times) but worked fine with handsfree mode, then third call it worked intermittently.

Oooooooh had my first crash & bug!!!

Safari's text fill box keeps zooming in to 100% when you type, that is very, very irritating.

Also I managed to crash it when I closed everything in the multitasking task bar :p
