Ipad 2 issues anyone? backlight bleeding?

got mine swapped out for a brand new sealed unit today at Bristol.

However tried it there and the new one also has the issue :(

Also what's made it worst, when I got home noticed a few scratches on the back of it !! Not sure what I can do now :(

Go and swap it again, you're well within your rights to do so.

So whats going to happen with this now. Is there going to be a 2nd revision?

My Mrs would really love one and I fancy treating her but I really don't fancy all the backlight bleed issues. You know when the time comes to upgrade everyone will be avoiding this first run units and it will be the first question that's asked.

Just like Dell monitors like the 2405 etc that had bleed problems.

Do they release stuff as revision 2 or will it just be a lottery until they claim to have the problem fixed?

It was only some of the first batches that had the issue as far as I know, all the ones shipping now should be fine. :)

I finally received my online ordered iPad this morning only to find that Apple had included some free scratches on the glass. As happy as I am to receive additions gratis, I'm quite particular about my scratches and prefer to add my own to brand new products.

Thus, with a heavy heart I rang Apple and I'm having a replacement sent out. The chap on the other end of the phone seemed none too happy about this, muttering something about never having seen an issue like this, and even offered me a partial refund of £79. I turned down said offer, obviously, as I wanted a virgin screen to permanently mark in my own fashion.

If it does get sorted I imagine it will just be done quietly and the fixed batch released once its done with no word of an announcement.

I've seen nothing to confirm this, quite a few on MacRumors are still receiving units with backlight bleed.

someone posted this on youtube. No idea if it's true or not though...

Apple is using a bonding agent called Organofunctional Silane Z-6011 to bond the layers of glass. Apparently, Apple (or more likely Foxconn) is shipping these products so quickly that the evaporation process is not complete. However, after one or two days of use, especially with the screen on, will complete the evaporation process and the yellow "blotches" will disappear. =] thumbs so everyone will know

this happened with the iphon 4 too so there is nothing to fix

Its funny how many 'bonding agent experts' there are :D

That has nothing to do with blacklight bleed though, it was just a common problem on the iPhone 4 first batches, its not very widespread on the iPad 2.
