iPad Mini Retina - Now available!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't feel heavier at all to me. I've only tested the original mini in store though :)

Just phoned Apple Store customer services who say they will try and cancel my online order but should it ship out, just refuse delivery :p

Nearly pulled the trigger on a space grey 32GB wifi model earlier, but then I realised I don't get paid for another 2 and a half weeks and I have a PS4 bundle on pre-order :D

Seeing as the 16GB models are always in highest demand and tend to sell out, I'm hoping they'll still have stock of the one I want in a few weeks time.

I don't think that the 64GB ones are available anywhere today, that's why they are also on a longer dispatch timeframe for online orders too. Only the 16GB and 32GB ones (wifi and wifi+cellular) models are available today.
Picked up a grey 64 wifi from the Trafford Centre, guy there said he didn't know it was coming in today until this morning.

Might just place an order with Apple and wait it out!

It appears that the min retina is clocked at 1.3GHz instead of the Air's 1.4GHz does anyone think this will make any difference over the next two years?

Another thing I'm pondering, I have a 32GB mini and could do with more space so I'm going for a 64GB mini retina but looking at the price difference the 128GB represents the best value for money but it's over £500! I plan to keep it for 2 years. Anyone think it's worthwhile getting the 128GB or is it silly money for a tablet?

I thought the non-retina mini screen was pretty good. But the retina really makes all the difference

I just exchanged my iPad air for a Mini retina and I am 99% going to go swap it back for an air in the next few days... Why?

Because the main advantage the mini had over the full size iPad is gone.

The air is light and easy to hold so the larger screen is just better. This mini feel cramped and just too small when I can have something bigger that feels exactly the same weight to me.

There is nothing wrong with the mini. It's very very nice. Fast and the screen is super sharp it's just that if I can have a bigger screen without the weight and one handed use being different then why wouldn't I?

I must add if you like reading books this is perfect now with the super sharp text.

^ I considered switching up to the Air but after having a lengthy play, the weight difference is very noticeable and enough to stick w/ the mini.

Stock levels seem good still, maybe caught people unaware? Or perhaps the price hike is enough to move out of the lower price sector, at £319 for the 16gb the difference in price is significant for people on a budget (I know budget and apple don't make much sense, but the first mini was pretty close from a budget point of view)

Bering in mind I've had every generation of iPad the weight isn't noticeable.

It is heavier but as the area is larger when your using it it will not make much difference. Only holding them side by side which no one does will make a difference.

I'm typing on the mini now and it's cramped and just not as nice an experience for me as the air was.

I mean if the physical size is an issue that's fine but the weight is just an excuse because if it was much lighter then I'd keep this mini retina.

I've been holding the mini and air side by side tonight and the mini is much more obviously heavier than the previous mini.

Again it's a lovely piece of kit. Just not for me as nice as the air.

Wha..? Can you *really* feel the 23g difference between the mini and mini retina? :p

Just cancelled my online order and I'm going to pick up my Mini from the Kingston store this afternoon, saves me waiting nearly two weeks to get it!

I don't need a mini with retina my current mini is fine

Do you think if I repeat it enough I'll believe it. Love my current mini and it gets a solid 6/7 hours use a day. I'm a taxi driver and use mine for satnav taking bookings watching films in between jobs etc etc the retina looks like it brings a whole lot more to the game.

For those who have one what's film quality like on it? That's the only gripe I have with my current mini and is the cellular 4g ready?
