iPad Mini...

The funds have already been taken from my account now and would take a week to return so it'd be a bit pointless to cancel and get from somewhere else. :(

Just received an email this morning and it stated stock is expected BY 01/02/13. Hopefully it is much sooner than that... But my plan is if it isn't here for payday, I'll just get one then and return the other when it arrives. :D

I've been reading quite a lot of reviews online and watching them on YouTube, the only thing that worrys me is quite a lot of the reviewers are slating the resolution. Is it really that bad?

Also, does anyone game quite a lot on these devices, if so, what's the overall performance like? Is everything smooth enough?

Cheers

Correct but you might have to fight to get the SOGA on your side against a retailer all depends how far your willing to go

I'm not sure what you mean by that but in some conditions SOGA offers better protection than the EU directive. Under SOGA if a fault develops within six months it is up to the retailer to prove that the goods are of satisfactory quality.

Under EU directive 1999/44/EC the fault must be reported within the first two months of purchase to move the onus onto the retailer.

No, it's fine. I think it's more people moaning for the sake of it than them actually being bothered about the screen. It's a great screen.

Yep.

I mean often it can be a hassle and a long drawn out process to quote and convince the retailer that the law is on your side, often they will delay or make things difficult, by having a 2 year warranty in place (john Lewis) IMO this is worth going for over another retailer selling at the same price with a 1 year warranty

That is true but all JL are doing is offering a repair service against manufacturing faults, which is what both SOGA and the EU directive offer. I understand the point; some retailers do make it difficult and JL offer a good service in that regard. Having said that I've only ever had positive experience when dealing with Apple Customer Service.

I got mine yesterday , cant say no retina has bothered me. I watched about 3 hours video and played about with it from about 6pm till 1am and I think battery was at 25% when I put it on charge. I just need a case for it but not sure what to get

My youngest who is 7 next week has asked for a Ipad mini pffff 7!!!!!

When I bought my iPad 2 about a year ago my 7 year old sister has used it nearly every day since , I basicly gave her it about 7 months ago because I never used it much ( never had a chance) I would never of let her have it but she has looked after it so I have no problem with her having it. I think they are great for kids she has loads apps to help her with maths , spelling and watches all the cartoons on Iplayer. The only thing she complained about was she couldn't use some of the web games like Moshi monsters

Well I'm finally in the club!

After weeks of trying to decide what tablet to get I finally picked myself up a mini, was either that or a nexus 7 and although the nexus was very nice I much preferred the 4:3 aspect ratio of the mini, testing the nexus out in landscape mode it felt very confining while surfing the internet, anyway, this is my first iOS device so quite excited to try out some apps, with regards to the resolution it's more than adequate, unless your used to a retina display its really not an issue imo, I think a lot of people blow it out of proportion.

My IPad arrived today and so far I'm overall impressed. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the resolution but it's not a deal breaker in my opinion.

I checked for the obvious yellow screen tint and backlight bleed but so far everything seems ok. The display may seem a little dull to me but I'm really not bothered, it's to much of a lottery to swap out for new ones.

Anyone got a screen protector on theirs ?

Yes, if you want finer control you have to tap the button.

Cheers. With my iPad I got an accessories kit to which comes with a case which is a pretty bad fit and a stylus. used the stylus a little bit on the draw something app and it works well, can it actually do any damage to the screen?
