Didn't see a thread for this .. apologies if there is one already!

As a 64Gb 3G iPad1 owner initially I was impressed and keen to upgrade, in the cold light of day, not so much.

- The apps I use dont really need the extra power
- The new 'smart' cover looked cool but then I saw it doesn't protect the rear
- Thinner - not a deal clincher for me
- Cameras / facetime - not for me

..oh and have the UK apple store dropped their iPad1 prices? Dont recall what they were before but the 64Gb @ £579 .. I'm sure I paid more than that for mine.

I'll be opting for the 32gb version ONLY if the devices have more than 256mb ram - as that is my only bugbear of the first gen iPad. Safari page/tab reloads are horrible due to this. The v2 was pretty much what I was expecting all round. A speed bumped model ala the iPhone 3Gs.

Not bothered by the camera lark, and the dual core will help as games evolve they way they are now. Epic have already mentioned many times that with more ram, their Unreal 3 engine has room to grow. EA have also stated similar lines in the past.

My existing iPad will go to my parents as I originally bought it for them as a learning tool...and then proceeded to use it for myself :o

I'm pretty pleased, it has all the features I really didn't need (like a camera)
so hopefully I can now get a second hand iPad1 for £250

Had it had a better screen or a USB port, then that would have been a disaster

have to laugh at the time they spent messing with that distorted faces program, why would anyone do that? :D

I'm always surprised when they spend so much time on daft things like that and garage band!

I think it's nice if you're looking for an Ipad for the first time but it's not really enough to upgrade if you already have one. I mean, you're gonna look pretty stupid holding the iPad up to take photos. ;p

as it stands i wont upgrade from my mk1.

HOWEVER, knowing apple they will start crippling the iOS experience, saying how it needs the dual-core etc and will make everything slow and unwieldy to use. They'll then start making apps only compatible with 2, when 1 could run it etc... At which point i'll grab mk3 through frustration.

The speed upgrade is a biggie for me mainly as I use it for photo workflow when I'm away from home, I'll try my hardest to wait for the 3rd gen though, as hopefully that will have an improved screen in some way, that's not to say the screen is lacking at the moment really, only after you've looked at an iphone 4 a bit too long.

I think if you've got an iPad 1 there isn't a lot of point upgrading but it's *slightly* more of an interesting prospect that the original if you don't have one yet.

Followed the release online as Apple were presenting the iPad2. They have improved upon an already great product through evolution. If I already had an iPad1 I wouldnt bother upgrading, but I dont, and cant decide between the iPad2 and Motorola Xoom. Laready habe an iPod and iPhone but not a fanboy as such, this wouldnt be the determining factor.

Mainly I want a tablet for sofa surfing and easy to carry entertainment whilst travelling.

For me the iPad2 has great design, an already good screen (IPS) and a massive range of decent apps. However I dont know if there will be a Skype version supporting it in the near future. I also have a massive media collection on my NAS so when I'm travelling I dont know if I can be bothered to convert media such as movies and TV series to a format this supports.

The Xoom seems like a good design but not quite so polished as the iPad2 (thicker product, thinner bezel so holding can "tap" buttons, speakers facing backwards, reports of wonky buttons). I think I prefer the more "open" approach with USB (not tied to app store and iTunes) so will allow me to quickly stick on media of any format and have a player to play it. Android looks funky but apparently a little buggy, and we have yet to see the flash support materialise.

Hmmm, which one..... Guess I should get hands-on with both when available.

They'll surely be a Skype app.

If your movies/TV rips will be in HD, you'll still possibly have to convert them with the Xoom:

It doesn't charge from USB like the iPad does with the 30pin-to-USB either, so you have to carry round the charger as well.

Pretty much same applies for me, I'll probably upgrade next year when the iPad 3 is released or if it's as soon as November (which I highly doubt) get one then

No where near enough to get me interested, the deal clincher for me would have been an improved screen but tbh now they've included a camera and made it thinner other than an improved screen where can they go now with the iPad?

I was always going to upgrade to the new model, I want 3G internal rather than having to carry a mifi around with me. I sold my US import 16Gb iPad yesterday evening for a very good price and will see if I can get the new one on launch day.
