iPhone 2.0 firmware available now

Well I took my touch to work as usual today with a full charge. Push was switched off, and yet at the end of the day battery life was at around the halfway mark. Switching it off made a small difference but the firmware is no where near as good on battery life as the previous versions.

This is on a touch though, obviously the iPhone will additionally have Blueteeth in the mix too.

Only place I got EDGE today was one particular place in the middle of nowhere, only GSM in the centres of Hull and Leeds. Apple have messed up here.

What's everyones version of firmware installed on their 3G iPhones? A mate of mine says his 16Gb 3G has version 2.0 (5A347) as my 8Gb 3G has version 2.0 (5A345). If this is true why would they be different, as my iTunes doesn't show any update as yet. Apparently there is a new firmware version being tested already for the 3G iPhone.

Iirc, that's the new firmware you can obtain by restoring your phone. The firmware fixes the 'yellow tinge' effect that some iPhone users have been getting on their screens. It restores the screen back to it's normal blue tinge.

Cheers Kainz, that clears the confusion up then ;) Might just do that myself.

Im still on 1.1.4. I think ill keep it that way until things get ironed out a bit. 2.0 seems a little buggy going by peoples experiences.

Only thing i would like is the iTunes remote.

Considering going back to 1.1.4 after more strange incidents. Last night in the middle of a call, it cut the call off and the screen was blank. Last time I knew the battery was half full, but I plugged into charger and tried to turn it back on. Nothing for 5 minutes, when it then sprung back into life after a few swirls in the middle with missed calls... therefore it hadn't been off, just nothing on the screen!

Can you even go back to an older firmware? I've had enough of 2.0 on my Touch.

Yep, all you need to do is download iTunes 7.6 and shift click restore and point it to the 1.1.4 firmware

I have not done this myself as im still sitting on my jailbroken 1.1.4 to see how all this 2.0 stuff pans out

There are lots of guides to downgrade back to 1.1.4, google it and have a read before jumping in.

That happened ot me today, was listening to music around town, the music died as it does and the ring tone started, funny thing is the ringtone was playing through the earphones and the speaker, I thought once earphones were plugged in it muted the built in speaker for everything?Anyway I went to answer it and nothing, the screen was blank but the phone was still ringing, had to press the top button twice to cancel the call and kept pressing the various buttons for a few minutes and it then kicked into life.

Mine always used to play the ringtone through both earphones and speaker.

I have just done it with an O2 PAYG SIM my son had lying around an it worked a treat. Taking ages to put all my stuff back on ot though.

Seeing as it is late I'll try the App store in the morning and get a PAC code from T-Mobile so I can keep my decent number...

I updated my 2G iPhone to a beta 2.0 and it worked fine with my Orange SIM. However no Apps Store.

Bought a 3G iPhone yesterday and have now upgraded my 2G to proper 2.0. It now has my GFs O2 SIM in it with no problems.
