iPhone 3G predicament... opinions?

What I don't understand is why would the dev team go to all the trouble they go to, to unlock the iPhone if this is possible?
 
i know the lads at dev rather well

for these boys its about jailbreaking the ipsw, the unlock is a extra

also dev need to releaae simple software like winpwn etc etc

even if you change your serial number, you still have to use a dev ipsw program to jailbreak

im not telling you to do what im sayin, but im sayin its possible

im using a 16gb iphone 3g
2.2.1 software
02.30.03 baseband
installer, cydia
and im on vodafone and if you beleave the internet its not possible with 02.30.03 baseband go to dev team website and look, however its very possible

note to chet84 just because one iphone group get together to make iphone software it does not mean, nobody else can

its like microsoft makes windows, but apple make mac os
nokia makes mobile phones, apple made it better

DEANO-UK - Can you post a screenshot of the about section of your iPhone please? Obviously blocking out serial number etc... i'm interested but want solid proof...
 
dudes a picture is not proof, i tell you what i dont understand i told you how to do it, its how mobile phones shops do it and charge £50 for its not hard to to do

i do it all the time, it seams to me your looking on mainstream iphone hack sites, however why would trade dealers of iphones release this 4 free, it aint going happen, the imformation is out there

i unlock iphones allday, i make good money from it, i posted what to do on this forum because it makes no difference to me if other members unlock there iphone, all you had to do was find the serial number changer, but it seams to me your looking on mainstream iphone hack sites, it wont be there its not simple software for everyday uses

i might of posted the software myself on rapidshare, but your comments make me think..... why should i

but i will tell you a easyer way, if you can write code???, open up a ipsw and change the request that itunes asks the phone to send its serial number

which stops the baseband telling the phone its locked, nice software, they did this to make it easy for everyday uses, my ways are what traders do because if you sell iphones with yellowsnow on when the customer updates the phone is locked thats no good, thats why these ways work the best for dealers but you need to wait for dev your skills arant and wont be good enough

but ive just emailed dev, asking my friend there when yellowsnow 2 will be comin out, his reply was super snow is comin soon deano, so just wait for that, it will be in cydia so you will be able to find it
i will ask dev make the program in bold letters just 4 you

All I wanted was proof that unlocking was possible by serial... end of :confused:

As for proof, maybe a website showing the steps and software? Because if it was that easy, then we wouldn't be bothering with the dev teams efforts, would we?

As for sending my iphone to you, LOL, its already unlocked, why would I bother sending it to anyone!?

you would bother with dev team, because your skills are such that you need other people to do the work for you.

however tell me how apple knows which phones are locked and which phones are simfree, you only connect to itunes so the phones sends its serial number if its locked u get ipsw locked, if its simfree you get ipsw with no baseband lock

so if you have a simfree iphone, you already have the ipsw with no baseband unlock, then you can put a locked iphone into dfu then install the ipsw then its done, but if you update in itunes oops its locked again, so somebody made a serial number changer, but u still need one simfree iphone 4 the serial number and to download the ipsw,

so as a trader it was worth be payin 800 quid for a simfree iphone, so i can unlock the iphones i sell, the dev team unlocks and jailbreaks and trys not to break any laws, but the serial changer is illegal so its not going be on mainstream sites, but hes a clue try russian sites

Well isn't apple going to realise there's a load of phones out there with cloned serial numbers and just ban the lot from using iTunes to update?

chet, if you want 100% proof, find a website in the uk selling simfree iphones uk spec there are loads buy one, check if the serial number on the back matchs the one in about in the phone trust me it wont, unless its a euro import

but if your phone is already unlocked....why bother

just wait for dev to release some simple step by step software with pictures and link on where to get it, and how to install it you will be fine

ps the button at the top of your iphone turns it on....... wow i helped you already

Why the hell would I do that? :confused: I've got better things to do, plus my WiFi isn't working so unless I go and read about doing it through the USB connector i'd rather go and play tennis.

How about you send me this "Apple Simfree 2.2.1 software" for a 2G iPhone and I'll test it on this brand new locked iPhone I have here.

If its as easy as you say it is...

Oh and I've spent the last hour looking for these russian sites, I found nothing apart from the usual dev team unlocks/iUnlock/pwnagetool etc.

the 04.05.04 baseband on 2.2.1 is bested unlocked using quickpwn
and bootneuter

no more baseband updates are comin for the 2g

Well we shall see with "Yellowsnow 2".

But as im getting an official iPhone '4G' whenever it is released this year its not much concern to me...
 
yellowsnow is for iphone 3g only

yellowsnow as never worked on 2g its not needed

devs boot neuter on 2g is the best unlock

yellowsnow 2 will be for 3g 2.2.1 with (02.30.03) baseband
