I don't want a dirty contract. Are these really that difficult to get hold of still?? I just strolled into my local O2 store on launch day and picked one up![]()
I've had no luck either if it makes you feel any betterA friend of mine bought an iPhone 5 over the counter at Lakeside today with no reservation. They had the 16Gb black versions in stock.
Still no email though for a 64Gb white.
Email just arrived, picking up phone tomorrow evening after work![]()

Two, one for Lakeside and one for Bluewater. Each day I had them in by 09:00:45 at the absolute latest, I was told by the dude in Lakeside that they're issued on a first come, first served basis but the problem was that they simply weren't getting the stock in anyway! How many reservations did you make a day?![]()

Completely agree with this post. I am currently tied into a 2 year contract but have become sick of my blackberry (and the fact it won't sync with my mac). By buying the handset outright although it is a large initial cost I am saving around £40, getting a 6 month early upgrade essentially and will go onto a £12 or so contract next year for two years. Also it will be a monthly contract so if someone else is offering better the next month I will be able to chop and changeFirstly, "how in blue hell I find the money" is nothing to do with you.
Secondly, I'm not tied into any contract. Do the mathematics, it's cheaper to buy a phone outright and pay a miniscule cost every month than it is to be tied into a long contract with a high monthly fee but a low initial outcome. I'm not stupid, I know how much it costs me and trust me, it's cheaper this way.
Thirdly, you do sound disrespectful. How people spend their money is, as per my 'firstly', nothing to do with you.
I've now heard yet another story as to how the phones are allocated. I asked in the Bluewater store and was told that people who reserve a phone on a contract get them reserved on a first come, first served basis but those who reserve one SIM free get them allocated on a lottery basis.
It took me ten days to get one reserved, a significant time saving on ordering online and having to wait three to four weeks.
This is the first time I've not pre-ordered for delivery on launch day simply because I wasn't around at the time. Next time I go for a new one, I'll be sure to try and be available for an early pre-order.
