I don't think that's always been the case. I got my 32GB 4S with The One Plan for £90ish upfront and £35/m when The One Plan sim-only was £25/m at the time. The phone would've had to cost less than £330 to be cheaper going the sim-only route on that particular plan.
 
Just got off the phone with Vodafone to get my upgrade sorted, I took out a sim only deal 10GB 4g, unlimited text/mins, 6 months Netflix + 12months spotify/Sky sports for £21. Working out stupidly cheap since Spotify costs £10 a month so it works out £11 for me, and then the free Netflix for 6 months.

I also asked about the iPhone and I was told that it won't be any less then £50 and the plus will come in at £60.

I had friend at EE tell me something similar.
 
I like it when Samsung take aim at other companies. Out of all Android phones, I find their range is the least desirable. They have the specs, but that's all.

Thinking of waiting a bit before getting the 6+ and seeing whether it would be best for me to go Sim-free - getting a sim only plan - or if I can find a good contract deal. :eek:
 
aye got an email from ee saying 8.01am tomorrow they will launch their details... Whats the betting the site crashes... I6 with 64gb .. 6 plus is just far too big.


Probably going to go down the buy the phone and change to Sim only contract... will shop around to see where I can get best deal from.. Always been EE but wouldn't mind changing if deals are good enough..
 
I paid £907 for 16GB iPhone 5 over 2 years with Vodafone. If I preorder the 64GB 6 Plus and get a sim only deal with the same allowance, it'll be £999 over two years.

Did I get a bad iPhone 5 deal or have things just gotten a lot cheaper?

good deal do other providers have spotify and Netflix ?Cuurently paying 9.99 for spotify..Thought of laying out 600 for a phone gives me the shivers tho:eek:

I got the iPhone 5s 64GB sim free last year, and bought a 3 sim.

The One Plan 12 months
2000 minutes
5000 messages
Unlimited data (+free 4G)
Personal hotspot
No roaming charges abroad
£15 a month (meant to be £25 but they had an offer on).

I believe it also came with cashback :)

Tbh I couldn't be happier with their coverage and speed and looking around today, I won't beat that contract price.
 
I'm on that same plan right now. Do you know what's going to happen to it after 12 months?

Decided to order the 6+ off-plan tomorrow then cancel the order if a network does a good deal that has a cheaper TCO. There's a week between pre-order and delivery right?

This was caused by this post on a MacRumors thread which got me thinking:

As I see it, the 6 feels excessively big while the 6+ doesn't. Sounds ridiculous but here me out. The difference is the 6+ takes advantage of the added real estate. As this video *link to The Verge's hands on demo* demonstrates and was briefly touched upon in the keynote, the 6+ has special landscape modes for different apps that mimic the iPad experience and also show more information on one screen. The 6's extra screen space is kind of just there with stretched-out apps.

This is trufax - the 6 has the bigger screen, but things like emails for instance, the information is just shown as a single panel and you have to open each email to read. On the plus, it's the two-pane version and you can scroll through emails and see the content of those emails. It's not a massive difference, but little things like that are swaying me, even if it's huge!
 
I'm going SIM only with EE. Was plugging some numbers in of what my guestimated expected costs per month and phone costs are on a contract and the equivalent monthly cost is so, so much higher that I'll just whack it on my CC and pay it off over a couple of months or so.
 
I plan on ordering a new SIM from Three, but it asks for Direct Debit details in the checkout?

I was under the impression the 'contract' wouldn't actually start until I activate the SIM? Anyone know?
 
You'd have a 14 day cooling off period, but I believe it starts as soon as the SIM is activated.

iPhone 5 launch price was £529 for 16GB and £599 for 32GB. Still a massive loss, but relatively good compared to most other consumer electronics which are almost worthless in less time.
