Welcome to the iPhone, the coolest, best, worst and most irritating product available.. all at the same time
Name another phone which at the purchase point isnt supplied with a charger and the means to connect it to your computer.
To be fair most phones come with a data cable and not a nice dock like the iPhone.

Its a bit of plastic, a $49 piece of plastic.
But thats not the point, the whole "look it comes with a charger as well"
Yes, so does every other phone.
Compared to other Apple products, the 8gig Iphone is a good buy at this pricepoint.
But my TyTn II came with a charger, 2 Styli, screen protectors, headphones with a microphone and in line call controls, 2 USB cables and some software, id off been a little peeved it hadnt come with the means to put electric in it.
My N73, N70, all came with hands free kits and chargers its not a bonus point.
I was just a little amused by how amazed he was with what came with it.
It was being compared to the iPod Touch, not another phone. That's the reason for the amazement - the iPod Touch comes with none of those.

The first few gens of iPod came with a plug charger and a dock and everything but after a while they wittle it down to coming with nothing more than the usb cable and headphone.
Im pretty sure the iPhone will end up being the same. Mark my words that the iPhone 2 or whatever they call it will come with less goodies than the current one.
Oh theyll keep the price the same despite there being less in there.
But they cant get rid of the iPhone embossed cleaning cloth. Thats pure class.

Neither does any Ipod, you get the pod, a cable and some crap headphones.
I tell a lie, my FIRST Ipod came with that funky travel adapter cube thing, and a little bit of platic to sit it in.
You can where Apple were going cant you at least.

I always think of the iphone is an ipod that can make calls and not a phone that can do music. On that basis, my comparison makes sense. Yes you can compare it to other phones and what they come with but the fairest way to see how much a bargain is compare it to Apple's own line of products. Here is a product that does more than its nearest/closest product - the 8G iTouch and it is cheaper and comes with a lot more accessories.
This is almost like thinking that Sony Start selling the N95 8GB cheaper than the N95 an then throw in a few extras too.

I am on Orange PAYG
Long answer as to how, this thread explains it all.
Does the Mail app work ok on your Orange PAYG sim? Just wondering cause the O2 PAYG doesn't work with Mail, so im hoping its just O2.
