iPhone questions

Oh please - dont use that excuse...

The iphone just doesnt cater for the European market, Apple havent considered it or even equated to give us a product suitable for our needs. The things that it doesnt do arent superfluous extras but something thats been a standard to expect as a minimum for at least the last 3 years...

Why do people feel they have to defend a product thats pretty much incomplete and forces you to change the way you work. If I buy a product I expect it to fit into my life and how I want to use it not the other way around...

Ive made my thoughts clear by not buying it - I just hope the people that have bought it have the gumption enough to start voicing their opinions as a valued Apple customer if they arent completely happy, in an endeavour to improve their purchase...

The thing is, some of the stuff it doesn't do, not everyone wants. When did cameras etc become essential? I've no interest in 3G either. All I want is a phone I can text people on. If I can stop carrying around my touch (for internet access and MP3s) AND a phone, the iPhone seems perfect for me.

Like anything else, they had to start somewhere and here we are. Stuff like 3G should have been in it, their excuse on that it "uses too much battery" is despicable, I have had my p990i for over a year now and it's 3G, battery is -just fine- but WiFi is what uses more battery life than 3G.

I suppose they didn't want to mistreat the US market more than they already have by reducing the price a few months ago and so on. This is the cost of globalisaton.

But sooner or later it will catch up to all the stuff that we need, these are just the baby steps of a big project...

And thats worth £170 + a crap £630 contract?

Nope, but it's worth the price of the phone and your original contract.......

Oh, and don't forget you're tied to 18month contracts with most phones these days, so not like that's anything new, should you want to use the O2 tarrifs.

Texting's one of the broken things: Can't forward messages, Can't sent to multiple recipients, Can't send picture messages. Hell, my first ever phone could do the first two.

Typing on that keyboard doesn't look easy either.

It's really simple to type on the keyboard, much quicker than typing on my n95 - especially website addresses/email addresses etc.

Firstly, typing's fine, been using my touch for a couple of weeks and that's not a problem.

2ndly, the forwarding texts, multiple recipients etc I'm expecting in a firmware update, and if not I'm fairly sure there'll be an app to do it from somewhere.

Thirdly, MMS I've no interest in If it was up to me it wouldn't even have a camera. Never understood why you'd want a camera on a phone anyways.

The iPhone has been out in the US since June. I could imagine Apple launching the 2nd generation iPhone next summer.

I wonder if you'll be able to buy it and use it on your existing iPhone contract or will you have to sign up for a new contract? If you can use it on your existing contract, will you have to commit to a new 18-month term? It'll be interesting to see what Apple/O2 do.

With the current iPhones if you were an o2 customer and had started a contract before some date in September then you could keep your existing phone and buy an iPhone as long as you went onto a new 18 month contract, pretty cool really! My brother got a new phone on o2 in August and he's seriously thinking of swapping it.

I expect there will be some kind of similar deal when a newer iPhone comes out, whenever that may be.

Lol and I thought we were going to have a mature converstion.

There is a difference between someone having money and being stupid.............................with it.

I suspect you are more the latter?

Sure.

So why do you post so much about a product you don't want?

I think implying someone is stupid because they've bought something you don't want is a bit out of order.....

Anyways, you two play nice ;)

It's an opinion.

No need to get defensive and suggest anyone that doesn't like the iphone does so because they can't afford it (hence my childish response in the same vein).

Are only iphone proponents allowed to post in this thread now?

So is someone implying that i'm poor because I have a different opinion of a product!

I'm just intrigued by all the hate towards a product no one apparently wants that's all, I wasn't really being personal towards you, just throwing out a suggestion really. Sorry if I offended you though. :)

No product is perfect. People look for different things in a phone. In my opinion the iphone just doesn't get the basics right. As a piece of technology it's fantastic. But as a phone...

I currenty have a black 8800 Sirocco. A lot of people consider it a waste of money etc etc etc. I don't because it's exactly what i look for in a phone (It's simple, looks good, functional and not common). I like my phones to be phones. I don't however condemn anyone that doesn't agree with me because like I said...we look for different things in phones.

I was a bit rash and immature with the "stupid" comment in my other post and I apologise for that.

I'm just tired of my housemates banging on about how the iphone is the best thing since sliced bread!

Its not hate - a lot of the people who arent impressed by the product have qualified their reasons. Apple isnt a small company who isnt unaware what a consumer wants, hell thats their mantra in an attempt to get customers away from the competition. They seem to take existing technology and polish it - that just doesnt seem to apply to the iphone...

I just take it as a slap in a face that the product they have released in Europe is pretty much the same one they released nearly 6 months ago in the USA and have made no apparent attempt to cater for our needs. Theyve snubbed us knowing that their brand will still make people buy and defend what appears to be an incomplete product.

Its just a shame that people are content with second best - because thats all any company will aim for...

I assume it's a reaction to all of the hype and claims surrounding the iPhone. If I claimed to be the coolest guy on the planet and wouldn't stop shouting about it, I'm sure it would get a reaction - probably a lot of :rolleyes:s. :)
