What sort of product cycle will the SE have? Will Apple release a new phone every March or is the idea to entice people to take a look at the usual September offerings?

It will depend on how popular the phone is if it does not sell well do not exspect a yearly hardware upgrade.

stupid question: why didn't they just shrink the 6S chassis design for the SE instead of bringing back the 5S design?

Cost I'd have thought. You've got all the production line in place already, stick a new chip in it and churn them out for maximum profit.

I personally love the 5s design, the iPhone 4 inch design (4-5s) is truly iconic and I am pleased they kept it going.

5S does look nicer in terms of design but I think the curved edges of the 6's are more ergonomic.

good call.

I don't know why you would buy an iPhone 6 now, its an objectively worse phone, yet more expensive.

If I was in the market for a new iPhone I would probably get this over any of the others. Speed/battery life vs price. Its a win win.

Kind of ****ed that I spent over £500 on a 6S and its only marginally better than this, mainly in ways that don't really matter a whole lot to me.

I'll order one when somewhere has stock for reasonable delivery time! Can't wait to get rid of my Z3 - its too large and gets dropped a lot because my hands are too small and plus the battery is awful on it now. I'm delighted at the price point of the se ;)

Seriously? The Z3 isn't that much difference size wise to the SE and the battery has the best performance of just about any smartphone on the planet. Two days with medium use is the norm and with light use three days is pretty common.

I think you're just trying to give yourself a reason to buy a different phone. ;)

There's a massive size difference between the z3 and the se. My battery won't last a day with moderate use on the z3. I had less than 3 hours screen time and had the battery down to 3%. I realise something is amiss somewhere but I'm bored of Android again and the untimely updates you suffer with a non nexus device.

I am getting rid of my Z3 for one as well. I have a terrible time with the Z3. I have small hands and suffer from repetitive strain injury from years of keyboards gaming etc...I can't use the Z3 with one hand without a great deal of discomfort. Looking forward to a small phone again.

Aren't you thinking of the Z3 Compact? The Z3 proper is huge.

I've Z3 Compact and I'll be changing to SE. Not because of size, but because to my surprise Android is pretty spammy experience.

There is almost no control from google over what the Androids apps do, what permissions they request and for what reason, and how the data is used. All apps are able to reset your notification permissions on device every time they update. In effect, you can disable notification spam from apps, and then week later find they still spam your main screen, because each time they auto update, they can reset notification permissions, on their own back to all enabled. Even apps from reputable devs, like EA, have absolutely unacceptable amount of spam, with uncontrollable full screen adverts that cannot be closed and often launch subprocesses which persist on screen after main app is closed. It's also the only platform that allows full screen adverts from sat nav apps, while on move.

So, it will be the first phone in over a decade, which I am going to replace after less than two years, but my android phone just has to go...

Having put a ruler against both the 5s and the Z3C there is a massive difference of 1/2 an inch? I can't see how you can be 'bored' with Android any more than you can be bored with iOS, OS X, Windows or Linux. They are simply the engine that allows you to use the features on your phone.

The untimely updates remark has me equally perplexed.

Absolutely - surely no one would be comparing a phablet to a 5s/se would they?

This is happening in this universe is it? It's not something I have experienced in my use of Android at all.

I don't use any phone with one hand due to disability so it makes little difference for me. I find that phones are much easier to operate using both hands anyway regardless of size.
