Well i bypassed activation and jailbroke mine last night when i was very drunk after my works do! It was sitting under the tree when i got in off my GF :D

It was extremely easy, everything works and is now on a o2 simplicity tariff at £15 per month.

I used iclarifieds guide, just need to find a way of disabling gprs/edge as i only need to browse etc with wifi and them i'm done!

Lovely piece of kit :)

Easiest way is to download something called 'Services' fatatsicly simple util, lets you switch on & off Bluetooth, wifi, edge

Hiya matey, i installed it about an hour ago and then just read your post :)

It works a treat, thanks anyway :)

So, after returning my iPhone under the 14 day returns period for a faulty WiFi chip i think i've decided i want one again!

A friend of mine who works in Phones4U said something about the Carphone Warehouse losing the contract with Apple/O2 and Phones4U getting it...she also said that apparently they will be dropping the price in January.

Does any of this sound like a possibility? If so, as i've now had one i can be patient before i purchase so will wait until end of January if i need to, although have no idea if there is any truth to the rumour! Any thoughts anyone?

I think that there maybe an updated iphone announced in jan myself, when i was pondering buying one its something i thought about, reasons i didnt wait are...

The current iphone does everything i need.
The new one maybe unlockable completely and i needed it on the o2 contract i already had, 18months of £35 is not a possability for me.
The price wont come down much, probably to £200 which is only £70!

Another reason i picked one up as soon as i can was that i didnt want a 1.1.3 to be released and not be able to jailbreak and unlock it.

As you know its a great bit of kit when jailbroke, i'm having so much fun using it :)

I'm waiting until MacWorld before I decide to get one.
Mainly because if the price drops or a new phone is announced it will be then.

It's a long wait until...

As long as your happy with the contract they offer this is the best option :)

Does anyone have any recomendations on software to convert videos for the iphone

For the money (£11) I'd recommend Visual Hub. It is a brilliant app.

iSquint is it's little brother and can be had free (has limited functionality in comparison)

I shall be happy with simplicity. ;-)

It won't be a 3G iPhone.. just a boost in GB (to 16GB) if anything, and that's unlikely unless they bump the iPod Touch to 32GB.

I’m looking for a bit of advice please…

Basically I want an iPhone but I’m currently in a contract with T-Mobile.

Here’s the thing, a friend of mine is flying to LA tomorrow for 10days. They are willing to bring me home an iPhone. Am I correct in thinking they are around £200?

When I get this (providing I go through with it) will I be able to unlock this for my T-Mobile contract? I know its possible as my friend has an US iPhone but I’m not sure if they have sorted this out now?

A thing that is putting me off is that the UK 1 isn’t possible to be fully unlocked. Is this a case with the US models? I don’t know enough about the whole firmware on either regions models…

So what I’m asking is, if they bring me one home…..

Will I be able to unlock it?
How hard is it to do?
What’s the current price for one in the US?

If that’s not possible, looks like I will be buying an N95 on a good contract with O2, selling that to buy myself out of my T-Mobile contract then buy an iPhone to use with the O2 contract.

The current usa phone cant be fully unlocked only unkocked for a payg or other contract AT&T sim, same as UK only unlock to o2 or tesco.

You could use a turbosim or similar :)

Take a simplicity tariff (£15 for 200 mins, 400 texts, £20 for 400 mins, 1000 texts, £25 for 600 mins, unlimited texts (or o2 calls)) and buy the iphone then run this alongside your existing tariff?
If you have the money to blow on the iphone, i hope you have the money to get the contract and such sorted, because when you start messing about with buying out contracts and buying contract phones to sell, this is when mistakes can happen and problems arise.

I just bought mine of ebay,

its new and version 1.1.1?
I dont understand the difference between this and 1.1.2?

can I upgrade this to 1.1.2?
it says its allready unlocked on any O2 sim.

I really want to get the NES games on there, which version do I need?
how do I upgrade it to the new firmware version? without messing it up...

If it a 1.1.1 out of the box it can be unlocked to any netword, you can downgrade tho so maybe its been downgraded when unlocked?

Typing from it now. It's great, really easy to unlock took about 10 minutes!

Just getting used to the keyboard, bit hard to use.
