iPhone V2.0??

Anyone who thinks its a just a fashion item either hasnt got a clue or just likes slating them because they are stuck in a contract with a crap phone:p

It's not that it's crap, its just not worth the money you have to pay for it. It's like you're paying an extra 100 quid just for the shiney 'bling' factor of it. A colleague at work got his on a jailbreak and it cost him £375, hardly worth it for what it is really. The camera on it is crap too, if I'm spending that much money on a phone I want a camera on it that is at least on par with the other phones on the market for the money.

The Viewty is by far better value for money, and if I'm honest I prefer my Viewty! Ok the only downside of that phone is that it's not got Wifi, but thats no biggie, who wants to browse the net on a piddley little screen anyway? I've got my pc for that. And if I'm that crazy about it the iphone 'feel' I can just get the iPhone type theme on my Viewty.

I'm not saying if I had a load of cash I wouldn't get one, but there are a lot of other phones out there that are much better value.

Paid £269 at the apple store today, plugged it in and within 30mins had it authorized, jalibroken and unlocked to all networks. Compare this to all other major contenders e.g. Nokia N92 LG Viewty i think its a bargain. No monthly contract, the touchscreen on this is second to none and due to a great community theres is lots of support and third party software. The bling factor is icing to the cake for me.

Good to hear bud, but that still ain't good value for money in my books. Until it's a simular price to others and has more than 3.2mp thats decent it won't be! You could just get an iPod Touch and jailbreak that bad boy if you're so crazy about the wifi and widget type stuff, it'll have everything apart from the camera and built in speakers.. oh and the obvious a phone function!

You still can't get it free on contract either!

That's quite good, considering a itouch cost the same for a 16G and the iphone has a lot more features.

The thing I'd miss the most if I had a touch would be the volume buttons on the side of the iPhone, and the remote control on the headphones for skipping tracks etc.

Well, I've used one and found it lacking. Besides the web browsing (which is admittedly great) its all style over substance. So much missing but the magpies lap it up regardless. Don't think you can count features that are only available by jailbreaking to be honest, as it's obvious Apple never intended you to do that and will always be breaking it with new firmware.

Of course you can count features that you get by jailbreaking it. It's so easy to jailbreak the phone and it really does open up a whole new world on the iPhone.

Only a numpty will upgrade to a new firmware before it's been hacked, which usually only seems to take a few days!

I'm going to buy myself a 3G one as a present if I've got the cash in June. I love the iPhone, but 3G is essential for me. It'll also be interesting to see if anyone makes it so that you can install 3rd party apps on it without Apple's Software Store or whatever it's called.

Bit off topic but can you use TomTom on the iphone if I have a bluetooth gps receiver?
Want an iphone but would have to have a gps available.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the iphone has blue tooth on it, I know my ipodtouch only has wifi.

doggo

It does have BT but its crippled, ie no file sharing, just only to headset only for calls.

that's interesting as I was thinking of buying an iphone and already have a TomTom bluetooth receiver, I wonder if someone will workout how to get around this soon.

Provided the Sony Xperia X1 is decently priced on contract, then the iPhone 2.0 will still have low sales volumes.

Very unlikely, especially using the official SDK.

You'll have to wait for Apple to release an iPhone with proper Bluetooth support or integrated GPS, I'm afraid.

My view on the iPhone is that it is VERY good at what it does, but what it does is limited - so it's up to the individual as to whether it suits them. If you can go without the things that are missing it's a great bit of kit, but some people just want/need more features, and that's fair enough. I love mine, I just wish I could get SwirlyMMS to work. That's the only thing that *really* bugs me.

Would really like the iphone as it looks awesome and want an ipod touch but currently have an Orange SPV M700.2 things which will bug me with an iphone is the lack of video recording and lack of gps.I really like the iphone tho....bugger...:(

If v2 has more memory, a better camera/video abilties, proper BT, and MMS functions. Then im sold, i will be getting one.

But somehow, i think its just gonna be a 3g bump and thats it.:(.

So am I right in thinking that iphone should get an upgrade around June time?If so,I'll wait, my contract ends in June.Recently bought an Orange SPV M700 might sell it on now and wait for the new iphone.Hopefully it will have proper video enabled(anyone know if the current app that enables iphone to have vid capabilities is anygood?) and maybe a gps and better camera!
