iPhone V2 speculation...

My wife sends me lots of pics of the kids playing and doing things for the first time as I work a lot so only get an hour with them at night....

Sending these via emails would be a mission for her.... and the same for her to receive them in that way

I have to say, I can count the amount of MMS messages I've sent AND received on both hands. It's less than 10, easily.

As csmager said, the phone screen + crap quality is usually enough to render the actual message useless. In this day, if I need to see what someone looks like I can Google or Facebook them.

£100 for the iPhone? in July? That would be an epic fail.. not only for the extended wait, but every chav in town would buy one at that price. Epic fail.

And more sales would be bad for apple how?

I didn't say that. I said that every chav having one would be fail.

At the moment it's quite exclusive, so it's a conversation starter if you have one (moreso if it's unlocked). However, if it becomes like a Razr then fail.

Mac snobbery found its way over to the iPhone too? ;)

Disclaimer: I agree, don't want everyone and their Grandmother having one !

I'm waiting for the v2 and this exact thought went through my mind this afternoon....

Well. I don't rely on my phone to start a conversation and if iPhones become dirt common then there would be less chance of being mugged for one.

I can't see anything bad coming from having a low price point.

I bought one because it does the jobs I want it to do brilliantly. Not because I wanted to separate myself from other people because I've got enough money to do so... If there's anything I hate more than 'yobs', 'oiks' and 'chavs', its snobs.

Well, EVH is a snob of the highest order. We all knew this. ;)

I can understand both points of view. But if everyone has one, it makes it feel a bit less special. It's a Mac thing.

It won't be cheaper than the equivalent iPod. No hope in hell.

£200 minimum from apple.

The ipod is a stand alone device. You don't have to sign upto a £35/mo contract to use an ipod.

Phone operators rarely charge you the full amount for the handset on pay monthly contracts. Anyone here pay £200 for their N95? :o

...Apple chose to go against the grain though, didn't they ;)

Admittedly, it cost them sales (we can see the surge when they dropped the price) so for them to drop the iPhone to £100 would be a bold move.

I can see £169 being the price, £100 seems too low for an iPod + phone

My point wasn't that the iPhone helps you start a conversation, but rather because it's exclusive to 02, and it's a rare phone to have so people usually comment. Lowering the price to £100 would make it sell, there's no doubt about that.

It's like having a Ford Fiesta.. you have it, it runs great but no one really says "Cool, a fiesta.. I want one". Whereas the iPhone is like the Ariel Atom. It's pricey, small and it can turn heads because it's rare and people are interested because of the "cool" factor.

I'd be happy with £130 ex VAT. :p

What ever it costs, I want it. and I want to break the last 3 months of my contract to get it.

If I recall, 02 allowed people to end their current tariff early, so long as they agreed to sign up to the iPhone tariff and restarted the 18 month contract.

This may have been for people who'd bought a phone from 02 within the month before the iPhone launch. You would have to ring 02 and see if they'd negotiate. You could always threaten to leave and buy the iPhone with the intention of unlocking it. Perhaps they'd offer a discount or waiver the remaining months; so long as you signed up.

yeah, they still offer this. I could cancel my contract now and buy a 16GB 2g iphone and restart my 18 month contract. But I'm waiting for the 3g phone and hope that I can get it. If not, I'll set up another contract and just cancel my existing on in 3 months.

I'm desperate for an iPhone. :p

Any i got to end my contract 12months early to get a iphone :) no hidden charges

You will be upgrading you iphone V1 to the iphone V2 by ending your contract. Do you know if O2 are still offering this? To cancel your contract early and take up the iPhone?
