iPhone V2 speculation...

but surely there would be a pre order?? no? or is it just gonna be a herd of elephants for first come first served?.....not that theres any point in getting one till its safe to jailbreak :p

Just because a beta of v2 for v1 hardware has been jailbroken doesn't have any bearing on the v2 software the v2 hardware will have. There will be likely be a totally different firmware for each hardware version and a new bootloader and base band is likely too.

It will no doubt be quicker than the original iPhone, but don't expect to buy one Monday morning and have it unlocked and jailbroken by lunch time :)

Oh sweet. After my algorithms exam I could pop into town and buy one from an O2 store. That would be amazing. :p

I thought annoucements weren't being made until 6pm uk time?

Must have it wrong then....

May shoot to CPW in the morning or call firstly!

I'm seriously considering buying one of these new iPhones if they're under £200. I'm currently with T-Mobile so I'd buy the iPhone v2 with the risk that I can jailbreak and activate the iPhone so I don't have to get the contract out. Bit risky as I suspect they've made sure v2 can't be jailbroken and activate so easily.

Someone will crack it

Let's hope so :). What does everyone think of this rumor about the new iphone being £100-£169? I would like to believe it but can't. Apple would be silly to give away a 3G, GPS iphone away for that price, they're not that naive to think it wont be be unlocked/activated without the contract!
