iPod Video 5G - Has your right earphone died?

Enlighten me?

If you're talking about

The complication in this case, though, is earphones and headphones by other manufacturers - so far, they are none the wiser about exactly what causes the problem, so they have no choice but to replace the unit if you send it back within the warranty period.
, then it's quite obvious that "they" = earphone/headphone manufacturers, and "replace the unit" = the third party earphones and headphones.

Hi guys,

It would seem I’m having problems already with my earphones – I’ve only had my iPod a week…

Thing is, I’m having problems with the left earphone

When the volume setting is in the forth quarter I start to hear a crackling on bass and some vocals? I’ve plugged in my generic Sony earphones which came free with my CD player and the sound is fine?

So, what I really want to know is; what’s the returns procedure with Apple?

Can someone post some links/details? I’m assuming I won’t have to return the iPod as well

Thanks,

SW.

sam.wheale, you might want to consider re-doing your sig. Its against the rules at the moment. Max of 400x75@20Kb. :)
Thanks for the warning mate - I thought it was okay? No one said anything? I've corrected it now anyway! Cheers.

Some people have reported problems with the left side too.

Here is a link to the apple care site: http://www.apple.com/uk/support/ipod/service/
Thanks mate,

Hey guys,

I got my replacements - what's the deal now with returning the old ones? I've been given a return label, but will UPS just randomly turn up and collect them or do I have to get in touch with them myself? I don’t want to get stung with the £9 charge :(

It all seems a bit vague? Apple's instructions/UPS etc

Help!

Anyone :(

My nine days is rapidly running out

I just need to know what to do next?

What is the 9 days for? I wouldn't worry, you've got the new ones so it's up to them to worry about getting the old ones back. I doubt they will be worried about getting a pair of broken headphones back anyway!

Thanks for the reply mate ;)

I wouldn't normally be bothered about sending them back, but they take your credit cards details and will charge you £9 if you don't send the faulty ones back to them in 9 days

And I don't see why I should pay for something that isn't my fault

Sorry to dig this up again but has anyone recently had this problem?

I'm gona start using my 30GB 5G soon and am wondering whether to use the apple buds to start with rather than possibly sacrificing my sony ex71's

I'm still on my second pair now and I might be being a bit paranoid, but I'm sure they're starting crackle a little bit too (I don't listen to my music that loud - about 3/4 of the way), I don't want to spend too much money on a new pair of phones only for the same thing to happen, but I do want to enjoy my music?

I'm going to try securing the wire that goes into the bud a bit better? Atm, that seems a little loose? They move about a lot, and when they're not in use but still in my ear I can hear their movement thought the buds...
