IPS panel monitor for editing, any size advice please....

What model was your old Dell?

Old Dell was a 2407WFP.

Main change from that is that the old panel had horrible weird contrast and bleed when looking from above and below angles. Viewing angles on this 27" are superb, Also seems much sharper for some reason, not to mention the obvious increase in size (great for games) and desktop working space. Lightroom feels just right now, was a bit cramped before IMO.

Well I spoke too soon, my monitor is suffering badly from image retention issues, it's going back for a replacement, just trying to figure out if best route is back to OCUK or via Dell. Think I might drive up to OCUK tomorrow instead.

it is a PITA, and a shame because otherwise the picture quality was very good. If the replacement is duff as well I'm going for something else. Not my lucky week as my GTX670 graphics card also died a few days ago.

But did u calibrate your new one?

My work mate bought this device called colour monkey and he calibrated his laptop and monitor. worked awsome. i tried to temp him to let me borrow his one lol

The Dells come calibrated from factory and it looks pretty good for to me. I swapped the last one which was definitely defective, it had a weird pattern when some grey backgrounds were moved around and image retention with static images after 10-20 minutes. OCUK were great though and refunded me for a replacement. This one unfortunately has some bleed on the lower right.. deciding what to do now.

so why not add the other 24" to the left of the 27"?

In your desk pick you only have one 24" on the right hand side.

Just purchased a U2412m from the members market and I am blown away! The colour and viewing angles compared to my old Samsung 913n monitors are awesome.

I don't know why I didn't buy a bigger decent monitor sooner.

I have installed one of the standard colour profiles from tftcentral but does anyone have any preference on profiles?
