IPS vs VA

Yeah there is not much in the 32" range. Even the 34" UW is either very cheap or very expensive, nothing in the middle for an IPS.

I think I may stay with something that is not so new as the 32 inch Asus monitor I have. Having to return it, got a bit of difficulty explaining the reason, supplier seems to be expecting a display back with a 'stuck red pixel' but it's only occurring in-game with gsync enabled and not in all games but a reasonably large amount.

Need to phone them tomorrow and try and explain again.

Holding off explaining the other issue. I can change the colours of the screen in-game using the volume wheel on my keyboard or on my gsx 1000. Tested it on two computers with two different sets of keyboards/ different sound configurations, consistent issue. But again it's only in some games.

Frankly just bizarre. The volume wheel thing, questioning my sanity at first but it happens repeatedly.

Something older with more stable tech and software is appealing at the moment, taken hours of troubleshooting to work out what the issues are, they are so unusual.

I've found the Philips 436M6 surprisingly good for a VA - pretty much all other VA monitors I've tried I see the transition/motion issues sooner or later and once I do can't unsee them but so far been happy with that panel (despite having 1-2 other flaws).
Always good to be aware of more options... especially in the VA market where most is utter trash.

Thats promising, I set my 27 to 1080p and even right up close, text in windows and word and browsing didn't look fuzzy or blocky.
If a 32 is 10 PPI higher, that should be better than expected.
I usually sit about 50-60 cm away

OK I am decided, its going to be a 27"
Anyone got any recommendations.
IPS
High refresh
Low bleed or whatever those things are
Good contrast rates.
I doubt its worth going for the 27" 4K M28U as the scaling is going to be bad.

Is it worth £200 for a higher for about 20 more hz? I know on some games my card can push a lot of hz certainly above 180 (from various reviews)?
I play some FPS but not competitively or online.
Defiantly needs to be IPS

IMO 120hz was around the sweet spot for a long time because higher than 120hz commanded quite a hefty premium. However 144hz is now much more common so value for money is probably best there. There’s a mild improvement from 120hz to 144hz and in all honesty anything beyond 144hz is virtually indiscernible to 99% of people and is really only sought after by competitive/professional FPS gamers.

When I tried out the Dell S2721DGF I’d be lying if I said I could see a clear difference between it’s 165hz display and my current 120hz one - this was in racing games.

Thats a good price but they are bringing out the new version of that in a few months. Do I grab a bargain or wait? Life if full of conundrums

There is always something new around the corner only you can decide if you wait or grab a bargain:p

Do you have a link to the newer model ?

you know, in the old days, buying a monitor was simple. You went out, bought one and plugged it in and you were grateful that you could run anything.
None of this advance mathematics business, calculating dpi, frame rates and nobody cared how many fps you got. Nowadays you need to be a scientist.

Its on LG's website, just says coming soon.
Personally it's what I'm waiting for, but the price will be at least £400, possibly as much as £450. Is it really worth 1.5x the cost of the older model?

Probably not. Still, I'm going to wait to see what the rip-off Britain price ends up being, knowing that you could import it for less than £400 a week or so ago (it costs more to import it right now).
