I'd use paddles for seq anyway. Only use the gear shifter on my DFP as a handbrake on dirt ;)

I've been moaned at for causing a crash before, when I'm 100% sure (proven by the inc list) that I didn't even touch the guy. So obviously one of us was lagging and he reacted to where he thought I was. I don't cut across, I'm overly cautious with other drivers

Trust me, if you had the 25, you would be using it all the time, its that good.

Yea the crash thing happens, just say sorry, even if it aint your fault and carry on, there really isnt anything anyone can do about it.

I always apologise if accused, or if I know it's my fault. I'll be getting a G26 when I can afford one and find one at a decent price

Another iRacing member here. I was lucky enough to get into the Beta right at the very beginning, back in 2005 I think it was. I was the England team leader during that time and we were able to see the whole concept grow from before the actual sim was even used (we used a modded version of NR2003) right up to release where they were kind enough to give all the testers all the content free.

Another perk of starting so early was I managed to move up the classes right from the release, and currently have a Pro license. Not sure how I managed that as I think it flatters me somewhat.

Although now it's too easy to go through ther standard license progression in my opinion.

I'd agree, although I've taken advantage of it ;) I'm waiting for the promotions during week 13 to get my Oval A license having never raced at C or B levels. Touring around one oval 4 times doing time trials is a piece of cake.

hmmm, maybe I should do time trials to avoid crashes... get that SR way up :)

I have now completed 3 races with the Solstice at Leguna Seca, Finished 6th, DNF, 3rd.

I got taken out at the start on my second race, i was not happy. Replay shows that the guy just pulled right accross me about 100m away from the start.

Im still comtemplating about wether to continue or not. I reall want t get into the single seaters but im not paying any more for it..........yet.

Cobra,

If you like your racing stick with it..

The Star mazda is just wonderful :) I have ran this car for a full season this time, and I am 1st in my division at the moment.

well at lot less likely to get shunted off the track in TT :D might start gaining SR rather than losing it. Races are so short in rookie that someone shunting you bad in the first corner can cause your SR to drop even if you drive perfect the rest of the race, not fun :(

I managed a clean oval race a couple of weeks back but lost SR cos some plonker used me as a brake during the warm up. Because the calculation is incidents per corner the SR won't appear to change uniformly.

I hate iR too, did a race where I was the lowest ranked driver. Beat 2 of them and my iR still went down. A lot of iR is being able to race at the right times. Doing the corvettes this season I'm nearly always in races where the SOF is around twice my iR. I finish low down so my iR drops.

what kind of lap times you getting? hit me with a PM (Alex Davies) and I'll have to race you some time

Yeah sure, im running about 1:51 at the moment, im gradually getting consistant, my driver name os Shaun Baker, we'll definately hook up.

I love my driving sims, i spend a lot of time playing them (although im a bit ropey still) I will keep going with my trial and then decide from there. Im sure the temptation for the single seaters will prove too much.....

Yeah, I'm hitting 1:52, with an optimum of 1:50 according to iSpeed. I know where I'm losing time and keep pushing too hard and spinning it ;)

Forums are down for me at the moment, but will PM later and maybe we can run a practice together then hit a race or something :D

Optimum of 1:50 through iSpeed ? Thats quality, so it actually predicts what your potential is and where you can improve ? I like the sound of that. Can that be used on a second monitor ?

We'll hook up for sure, are you online tonight ? I should be from about 8 ish..

iSpeed is damn awesome, have the web interface open on my laptop next to me. shows you splits + optimum for getting all splits at your best :D also it tracks telemetry of you and everyone else on track with you. so after a race or during a practice session, just alt tab out and compare your best lap with the current leader. see how they're racing line differs, when you're braking when you should be lifting etc. it's awesome. I'm not as good at finding lines as I thought I was, and was stuck at about 1:58 before I started using iSpeed. Only had a few sessions with it on due to my wheel needing repairs :D

Even better,

The new version of iSpeed uses text to speech to announce the split times for you, so you dont even have to have the ispeed app visible :)

I might be arround tonight mate if you are on

Quality, im going to give it a go tonight. Are you on tonight by any chance ??

yeah, I will be :)

Yeah it's cool.

We'll have to find a way of communicating quickly outside of game. anyone got vent or teamspeak + know a decent server?

does it go by what SR we all have and all that, so if were all equally the same its more likely?? i get confused with the match making system on Iracing sometimes.
