iRacing

Welcome to iRacing, it really is great fun. Practice the Mazda until you feel confident with the racing line and then go enter a race to see what it is all about. Just remember the track changes every Tuesday, so make sure you practice on the correct track! Rookie races are not always that clean, so make it your priority to avoid others. If someone is too aggressive just let them go, your chance will come to race them once you are more experienced and most of the time you will see him on the side of the track a few turns later:)

Thank you.
Is there a list too other forum members iRacing names, so I can buddy up with your races!

Also is there any liscences or training, too get accepted too certain races!
Just the MPR Rating to restrict me + Track/Cars I need too purchase! :o

Been slogging away on the MX5 Cup, an got down too 1:02:950 on Yakawa! Still slow compared too others! Any tips you can give me!?

There have been a few attempts to start a list back in the depths of this thread, can't really be bothered to go back and find it, but I'm Joshua Harley :)

The sporting code contains everything about licence level/progressions, it's available under Reference on the membersite, but essentially you are currently rookie licence, through safe driving (note your placing/speed means nothing as far as licence is concerned, so at Rookie just concentrate purely on avoiding all the crazies) you increase your Safety Rating which when it gets over certain levels ranks you up to D, C, B and A class (there are also Pro and DWC licences but they're more complicated)

But as said, for rookies just avoid the crazy people in races, starting from the pits is a good bet (when you get the grid button wait and eventually it'll change to read 'Missed start', then click it and you'll be in the pits) and just be consistent, don't get any incidents (green text at the top, given for off-tracks, spins etc)

And speed wise, not sure on the MX5 times but to go quicker it really is about being smooth, 'slow in, fast out' (eg don't rush the braking zones) will get you up to very decent pace with some practice, but it's all just seat time, learning exactly how the car handles and being able to make it do what you want. But for rookies, again, consistency and clean driving > *, you'll even get some reasonable results as the crazies throw themselves off the road :)

hey josh hows things with you? not spoke to you for a while.

im coming home tomorrow so should be racing this weekend, feels like ive not raced for ages...

want to get back on the grid, just need to get my head in the right place, i feel better for having a brake tho...

Not bad, been a bit hectic over the weekends recently so not raced properly for a while, looks like I might be moving this weekend and maybe no (usable) internet next weekend either as well depending how things go over the next few days :(

I havent let you down just havent had the time mate the skin your after isnt a 5 minute job im going to have to create it all by hand. You can help by sending me a Hi res map of the box i looked online theres Nothing i can really use. Only an ice cream van for refrance. I never put a time limit on it. If you notice i havent had chance to even do my rizla one yet and that a 10 20 minute job hour tops.

At the new guy give me your ingame name and i will get you up to speed with the mx5 and the two rookies tracks. Slow in fast out is the name of the game in the mx5. Ive helped a few drivers here and im up for helping another.

The main mistake i see rookies make and i did it myself is brake to late and hard unbalancing the car then they loose all there speed so they stamp on the loud pedal mid corner then wounder Why they end up on the grass doing 360s

Crikey, financing iRacing starts to be a bit like an O level (am I showing my age there?:)) Maths question....

If I buy 100 iRacing dollars at a cost of 75 dollars, then buy an annual subscription at 99 iRacing dollars, and receive 30 dollars back - how many pounds have I spent?

Whatever it is, it's not cheap, but it's not as expensive as you may at first think it's going to be - definitely just need to make sure you take full advantage of these special offers that appear from time to time.

I've decided to try and get back into sim racing. I've reactivated my iRacing account and I've been practicing this evening, just trying to get back into the swing of things. Maybe I'll do some races tomorrow.

What name should we be looking out for?

Robert Clenshaw, but I doubt I'll be doing much for a couple of days! I'll probably be doing some setup tweaking in the Star Mazda.

Quite frankly, if you're doing some setup tweaking then I doubt we'll be in the same races anyway! (Ian Baker) :)

Well after re-subbing for 3 months and spending hundreds on Fantec gear, I literally stopped playing!

I haven't had time and then I forget about it. Typical.

I should have said playing rather than tweaking. I have no baseline yet but just wanted to try and familiarise myself with everything again. It's been a while since I last raced. Still trying to sort out the best position for my wheel and pedals.
