iRacing

Am I right in thinking that "Hosted" races are "unranked"?

Is it possible to register for a race later this evening or can you only sign up a few hours in advance?

Many thanks Skill. The dashboard seems really usefull, nice tip, thanks.

I have added it to my "Planned Races", does that mean anything other than a reminder for myself?

Also, the start times in the planner, will they be for the Race itself or the qualifying session? Do all sessions have a practice and when would that start? Sorry for too many questions.

First race here I come - WOOP.

Will be happy not to write off the car or anyone elses car :)

Has a Karting series ever been spoken of in iRacing?

Also, I REALLY would like to get a TrackIR 5, do they add much to the iRacing experience?

When do registrations open for qualifying?

Or, do you just register for the race and are automatically entered into the Qualifiers?

Thanks.

Yes, it does. Am I automatically entered for the Race if am in the qualifiers?

Trying to register for the race but tells me am registered elsewhere.

It's worth noting there's no AI, so it would purely be hotlapping which could get a bit dull...

But you get the same cars/tracks in offline as online yes, but only the same ones so you can't test offline with cars you haven't bought, just the basic content + ones you've purchased.

How to launch the game offline?

Talking about usb resolution reminded me about the bodnar cable:

http://www.leobodnar.com/products/DFPG25conn/

It increases the resolution of the pedals which gives a more precise feel. Gave me a few extra tenths per lap. Thought I might share for those that might be interested

I would be interested in them purely for ease of setting up as in just the Power and USB from the G25 and the bodnars under the desk for the pedals and shifter.

Any other advantages getting one for the shifter?

As a novice driver, I would agree that seat time is important.

I have too many things to think about - lol

First corner:

Racing line
Speed
Gear changes
Other drivers

Nevermind driving the car :)

Am currently about to pull the trigger on a TrackIR unit...

HOWEVER, could someone please advise on what the minimum hardware requirements would be for a three screen setup to run iRacing it well.

I currently have:

Radeon 5770 1GB
8GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600
Phenom II BE x4 @ stock 3.4Ghz

I already have two screens so would require an additional 22" monitor and a graphics card at a minimum which supports eyefinity. Would a 6850 suffice?
Or another VGA card.

Would TrackIR offer better "bang for buck"?

Thanks.

Think I am going to go the three monitor route instead of TrackIR. Will need to buy over a couple of months.

What shall I get first, new 22" monitor or 6950?

I think monitor as VGA prices will generally decrease where as monitor prices are not as volatile.

Increases pedal resolution which in my understanding makes them more responsive but most importantly for me means I can keep my pedals connected via USB on the floor without having to connect them to the wheel. That alone for me is worth the price as they can stay permanently connected to the PC and one less cable to connect to the G25 when setting up.

So, when setting up the G25, all I need to plug in is the power cable :)

your as addicted as me to this game lol...

FRIGGING LOVE IT.

We both got into it at the same time did we not?
