iRacing

Have just purchased the 3 month trial offer and am downloading now. Am a noob when it comes to racing so I'm expecting a steep learning curve :)

Aye, but excellent fun learning.

Hope you enjoy it.

I suck balls.

Do you have a wheel/pedals?

Me and Graveyard started at the same time and are both hooked.

does it help with locking up the breaks mate???i know you dont have yours yet but do you know???

im sick of doing it now...

I cannot say for certain but I would imagine so as this gives the pedals more clarity if that makes sense so you should be able to ease on the breaks with more control.

Might get it tomorrow hopefully.

im getting slightly annoyed with racing in this game, i just cant keep away from idiots..

i started so well now going down hill...

Stick some on youtube please, helps ease the frustration I find.

I know it is easier said than done, but I hang back at the starts, watch the carnage (which to be fair, there are only a handfull of twonks per race) then dodge them. By the end of the first lap, most of the clowns have disconnected.

We are all "rookies" though and I think many of the new guys need to learn race etiquette as if coming from an arcade background it will all be new to them.

I am surprised how many people "lose it" though if a new guy makes a genuine mistake.

ah sweet let me know how you get on with it mate pls...

Ok...

WOW.

It gives much more control when braking, it feels more "real" to the point where it seems as though you are kind of cheating to how it was before.

I assume it is more like fixing the pedals to work more like a better set of pedals would so this is a mod which gets a thumbs up in my book as the cost of a better set of pedals would be much more than £30.

Can someone already using one confirm this and I am not just suffering from a placebo effect.

I thought it was only visible locally, although their desktop program crudely works around this.

Installed.

I want a cow skin for my cars.

Deploying the new build.

Maintenance (est. 6 hrs): 30-JAN 1800 GMT [1300 EST]

Looking foreward to this.

Any news on changes?

The engineers produce the release notes after they have completed the new build so i wouldnt expect them untill after the build release.

Rumours ive heard include NTM for Star Mazda and Riley and brake disc glow and flashes from exhausts but all rumours then all the usual bug fixes and updates.

:)

Should I dive in?

DEFINITELY.

Nothing like the pressure of a full grid :)

Just hold off at the start and avoid the imminent carnage at the first corner and go at your own pace.

F3 key is useful to give you an heads up of your "relative" position on the track so you can see how far infront/behind other drivers are.

Voice comms is helpful as when you see someone approaching and about to lap you, you can just tell them to "pass on the left" or "Pass on the right" etc. From experience, I think the experienced guys appreciate that and understand if you make mistakes.

They could make it easier for the community though by having the game supporting redirects, just like trackmania does so any skins you do not have are downloaded on the fly when you join a race if you do not already have it.

That way, we do not have to have 10GB of files sat on our drives just in case we meet that driver online and they are not responsible for any copyright infringement.

the star mazda now feels better and more alive to me...

the williams is mental now just knocked 1.5secs off my pb first full lap...awesome...

man i love this game...

proper good at 120hz aswell...

Would love 120hz but a few things are putting me off...

Cost
16:9 aspect ratio

In the early days, 120hz was much cheaper than it is now and you could get 16:10 displays.

For the same price as a decent 120hz monitor, I picked up a third second hand 22" and Radeon 6950 for eyefinity. Just hope it is worth it over not getting a larger 120hz screen :(

I had the same problem, use this:

http://www.leobodnar.com/products/DFPG25conn/Calibration-DFP-G25.exe

Try calibrating the pedals with the Bodnar tool above. Push the brake and accelerator down to your usual comfortable level. Not all the way down hard if that makes sense. I also calibrated the clutch with only a small amount of travel to make it behave more like a clutch. Instead of having to be at full travel to change gear.

It will write all the data to the Bodnar box so you never have to do it again.

Hey, I have been trying to find that, cannot find it linked on the site anywhere? Have I missed something obvious?
