They are a very nice looking pedal set!

I can highly recommend an Obutto if you're looking at one. Sturdy as he'll and plenty of mounting points for button box and other peripherals.
 
Let me know how the pedals are barmyllama, I've not been able to play for months as my G25 pedals pot as given up the will to live. So now i get huge brake spikes. Slowly was getting worse since start of the year. Up to the point in my final season (summer time this year) my braking was all over the place.

Don't have time to fix them or sure if I can. So guess im out of I-racing till i get some new pedals. Been looking at a load cell for a while if you give the all clear may bite the bullet after xmas, as I'm really missing racing, and I-racing is impossible on a pad. :(

Now they look amazing and nicely priced for the quality they look a great deal, I bet the build quality is 10 times better than fantaecs. Id have got a wheel and there pedals ages ago but there are so many horror storys. Wheel and pedals dieing inside 12 months isn't very appealing at there price point.
 
Spils, I think some people have had success by swapping the Clutch pot over to the brake, or just using the clutch pedal, not an ideal solution but could get you back up and racing in the short term?

I'm planning an Obutto purchase just as soon as the Rift CV1 is released :p would currently need to replace all 3 monitors and that just isn't happening :p

You can open them up quite easily and swap the clutch with the brake. You could either just swap the pots or swap the entire pedal. It'd only take 15 minutes, let me know if you want more details.

If I have any issues that I feel Fanatec aren't dealing with to my satisfaction then I can always go through credit card insurance.

So far there customer service has been good.

Due to an issue with a webpage not loading correctly after my initial checkout process I ended up ordering 2 sets of pedals. But a quick message to them sorted it out. Then after I checked my credit card account and noticed pending transactions that totalled the price of two sets, I emailed them again and they very quickly replied to confirm only one set was ordered, dispatched and will be charged.

I'd also say that there no point paying double the price for priority shipping. I ordered Sunday evening and they'll be here on Wednesday. I couldn't see them getting here any quicker if I'd used priority shipping.

I'm tempted by the GT Omega. It's cheaper to both buy and ship and has the same features. Only question mark in my mind is over build quality.
 
Is it just me or are those two incredibly irritating?

The GT Omega in that review is not the one they currently sell, I don't think. The current one (the GT Omega Pro) look significantly sturdier that that one.
 
Yeah, they must have irritated each other to death as well. They've since split and Shaun Cole now presents The Simpit on YouTube.

They do know their stuff and you always get honest and unbiased reviews.

Haven't looked at the GT Omega stuff for a while, I suppose when I'm actually ready to buy it would make sense to check out other sim rigs as well.

Shaun Cole does have a grating voice, but is a good host and has some good videos on his new SimPit channel. Gangi is just an egotistical moron.

Barry Rowlands of the Sim Garage has better reviews than ISR, but he tends to do actual racing hardware such as wheels and pedal sets instead of cockpits.

I recently subscribed to Barry Rowlands' channel, the other two just wind me up. My heart always sinks just a little when I google a review of something and they're the first hit.

To give you an idea of how versatile they are, i have mine set up for racing, flight sim & FPS from 1 mounting layout, no tools etc. The only thing i need to do is undo the quick screw and remove the joystick mount which i have in center-stick, because it'd be a PITA getting in/out otherwise. I have a spare mount point which ive put on the side, and so i just twist the screw maybe 2 turns, lift the HOTAS mount out and put it into the side location.

If im sat in the chair, i can have the HOTAS exactly where id want it, the keyboard tray where it needs to be, the mouse there where its comfortable, and the wheel is still attached the whole time.
The HOTAS & KB+M is important for Star Citizen, switching from flying to walking around the ship and potentially having someone boarding your ship and needing to go straight to FPS mode, i can do it in seconds and everything is where i need them to be if i was playing BF etc.
Its also handy cos if i want to race, its also still there without putting stuff away and whatnot, and i work from this computer too, and theres absolutely no compromise in it. Its fantastic.

I will point out that i dont use the gearbox though, but then thats only really a problem because im using the HOTAS mounts, not sure how easy it'd be to get wheel, gearbox/buttonbox, and HOTAS on Obutto mounts. If you can mount them another way, its perfect. If you dont need HOTAS, its not a issue either.

Ive no idea if he'd be able to be impartial about the 2, if one makes him more money etc but it might be worth asking. I dont know if you'll find someone who knows the 2 products as well as him who you know you'd get a response from (its harder to get feedback from a youtube reviewer).
 
Hmm interesting, thanks Paul. I'll bear that in mind when I come to buy one.

So, first day the of RUF cup at Mosport. I spent last night learning that track. My first time driving it in any game or sim and... I'm not a fan. At least not of this car/track combo. It's an easy track that's not at all technical, but one slight mistake and you're throwing the car at the scenery at a very quick rate. It's the long sweepers that get me, you brake early to get the nose in, then wait... and wait... and wait some more before you can power on again, allowing for the understeer.

Managed a 1:21 flat in practice, but not consistent enough. Required race pace seems to be in the 20s, so definitely more practice needed.
 
Just got in to this...dipping my toes slightly.

I ran the Mazda race at both Okayama last night and Summit point on Sunday.

Really enjoying it, even in the rookie class the standard of racing and etiquette is much higher than that of anything else I've played.

I'm putting in reliable 1:58:xx laps on Okayama, which is a good 8-9 seconds off of the fastest I've seen in my sessions. Working on getting my time down, it's like a drug.

Thankfully both races went alright, blew my engine in the second one (accidental downshift...ouch) but still gained SR in both races. Timed well to actually be able to participate in both weeks of the season, so hopefully I'll be in a higher license by the end of my trial.
 
I turned a few laps n the C Spec at Mosport last night.

I like the Mosport, but that version of the Ruf really is a difficult car to drive anywhere.

I watched a video in the forum that went with a setup for this car and track. The guy in the video seemed to be able to shift down with reckless abandon. I know he was braking at the same time, but I couldn't change down in the same manner.

I also did some GT3 practice and qualifying, I reckon I can get into the mid 1:18's which will be fairly competitive in the splits I'll be in.

I also did a race in the Cadillac for the first time, I did about 30 minutes practice before hand. Started 11th and finished 10th. I was running in about 7th before contact with the barrier forced me to pit. It's not a bad car to drive now, I still think it's in too low a licence bracket though.

Do you run with auto blip off and give it a massive stab of the throttle on down shift in regard to the C-Spec? I found I gained a few 10ths on my lap times by turning off Autoblip.
