iRacing

I've got the RUF, used it briefly for a Carrera Cup league a while back. Primarily racing the Kia at the moment in a league so I've been doing Global Challenge events to get more time in the car.

Decent numbers in the RUF? One GC event earlier in the week had 100+ Cadillacs (invariably driven badly) and 2 Kias which dropped us in the top split.

I turned some laps in the Kia last week, it's a lot better now than when I first bought it. But as you say, it's all Caddys in that series. Probably because it's included in the base content and the Kia isn't one the sexiest cars in the world.

You'll already be used to the understeer then ;)

For a non-base content series, yes. From Weds/Thursday evening you're pretty much guaranteed at least two splits. This week has been the exception as we've been at Homestead road, which doesn't seem to be that popular - and that's a shame as it's a great little track.

I don't know much about GT3 as I don't run it, but that always seems busy too.

The Kia's OK once you get used to it - the default locked tune doesn't help matters. You've got to be smooth with it otherwise the front tyres overheat and the understeer of doom sets in.

I have just bought the Star Mazda and am really enjoying driving it, must admit I am still very slow but it is a lot of fun. I must say compared to the GT3's I find it a lot easier to drive.

Haven't done any GT3 races for weeks. I did a few practice sessions for Zandvoort, but wasn't feeling the love for the cars after doing weeks weeks in the Skippy.

Is that the official Iracing one? I looked earlier but could not find any details.

The Road Warrior Series (you don't have to take part in each event though).

Sounds interesting. Team event? I've not looked into that functionality yet.
Yeah. Minimum of 2 drivers in a team, maximum of 16.

We've got a team put together and are really looking forward to it now. Not done any endurance racing for 5+ years now.

Might set up a Twitch stream.

Bah, it's on Saturday. Ironically a mate of mine got gifted a voucher for a race simulator event place thing, so he's booked it ... for ... Saturday. :(

Just finished my first race... Didn't go very well. 3rd corner in a car got clipped then span into the side of me :(. Finished 9th overall but my lap times would have put me near the top. Will see how it goes next week hopefully I'll be out of rookies by the end of the season.

Start from the pit lane, just don't press the green grid button and you won't be place on your grid slot. Obviously check your speed as you exit the pits. Then keep it incident free for half a dozen races and you'll be out of rookies.

Upgraded to a Fanatec CSW, got the base from a friend and picked up a BMW rim from eBay, had to adjust the height of the monitors and couple of other bits on the rig and something is not right with one of the parts, no FFB at all and no buttons/display on the wheel once connected. Looks like I'm taking a drop week!

It does indeed. My BMW wheel, bought second hand with the base, stopped working about half an hour after I first got it setup. Broken pin on the quick release. Had to be RMA'd to Fanatec, took around two weeks all in from initial fault to receiving back repaired wheel.

I'm leaning towards it being the wheel but I'll know after the weekend, my friend is sending me another rim to try out so I know for sure. It will be a case opf returning that one to the ebay seller then and I think I'll just buy a new one to save the hassle!

At least I'm getting plenty of painting done!
