I got promoted to C license but the race today was an utter disaster. On lap three a guy going much slower than me moved into my way in the braking zone and I had no where to go except for the back of him 4xs. I thought my car was alright so I continued, turns out it wasn't. Next corner I spin, up to 6xs and the guy following me hits me, up to 8x. I spend two minutes in the pits and return a few laps down but getting frustrated I spin again, so I decide to call it a day at 10xs and lap 18. I had a go a Philip island and I don't think I'll be ready for a race tomorrow but I was starting to get clean laps in at the end.

I'm in my third season of racing the Skip Barber and even on tracks I know well I wouldn't be racing on the first day of a new week. A lot of the drivers racing today wouldn't have done very practice, so I think there's always a much higher chance of getting involved in accidents.

Class winners - well done :) And only 2 of you!

Thanks, the first few hour were utter chaos, how we even survived after getting caught up in other people's accidents on at least 5 occasions is beyond me the BMW was an utter tank!

Thankfully around hour 4 everyone seemed to calm down.

It was my first Endurance race on iRacing and got to say by far the best implementation of driver swaps i have seen in any game, looking forward to the 6hrs of the Glen now.

I watched the first hour and Dave's stint was interesting. I didn't get in to the car until after the first 4 hours. I kept getting overtaken by a black HPD and at one point he lost it exiting T1, spun right across my nose. Wasn't aware we touched by I needed 16 secs of repairs at the next stop. Driver swaps do work well, that was my 1st iRacing race in about 2 years, so all quite exciting! Think the boys are up for the Glen so maybe see you as you lap me there too ;)

Team Shark did, middle split at we finished 8th in the GT3 class. I see some 'nutter' got DQ'ed as he raced all 12 hours by himself in the top split!

That's nothing. There were a couple of guys who did the Daytona 24hrs themselves (knowing full well they would get disqualified, but just did it to prove to themselves that they could). I think one only did blocks, resting in between, but the other did the full thing.

I myself did a NR2003 GTP 10hr endurance race at Watkins Glen alone, while my team-mates shared another couple of cars.

The biggest issue was the matter of toilet breaks during pitstops, which necessitated a brick on the brake pedal, as Watkins Glen's pitlane is obviously on a downslope. While I didn't feel as though I suffered physically, and made no mistakes, I wouldn't do it again - the preparation you need is just silly, and pitstops are critical in stretching your legs, sorting snacks and fluids, etc.

I found it mentally fine. We had team radio to keep the laughs up, and I had an ability to either go full concentration mode or a more relaxed mode with little in the way of time differences or mistakes. That ability has long since gone though! I tend to get more nervous now, so can't fallback on the relaxed, smooth style. :(

I don't understand this game.

I was just in a 20 lap race and I never collided with any vehicle through the whole race. My only mistakes was overrunning the corners and going off track on occasions. Mainly the very first corner though because it always catches me out (Lime Rock Park - Full Course).

So I was in around 6th and I was lapped by the front runners only once in the race. I pass the flag to enter my final lap (20th), note that the race would already be over by this point as I'm currently a lap behind the leaders. So the 19th lap should have been my last lap and the results should have reflected laps +1.

Well anyway, I crossed the line to enter my 20th lap and that first corner struck me once again and I ended up off track. I was disqualified for getting too many points? Even though the race shroud have already ended?

:( what do they class as an incident? To me simply just going off track shouldn't be a major issue, providing you aren't ruining the race for others.

It gave me (-0.06) :(

An incident appears at the top of the screen in green iirc.

Light contact with car/wall is 0x (invalidates qually laps etc)
Off Track is 1x
Spin/'loss of control' is 2x
Car Contact is 4x

And the session limit is 17x iirc

Incidents go from 0x which is very minor contact (and don't count toward the limit) to 4x which is hard contact.

You'll also get 1x for going off track - how far off track depends on the circuit you're racing on. Spa is very unforgiving, whereas Road America and Watkins Glen have a few places where you can go off track without penalty. Try checking out the track limits in practice where incidents don't count towards your SR. Finally there's also 2x which you'll get for losing control of the car. This is effectively when you have a spin and end up at > 90 degrees to the direction of the track.

Be glad you only got -0.06 for a DQ. I got -0.19 this morning for a 4x in qualifying

Gone back to my T500 pedals.

I had planned on upgrading to a full Fantec setup, but since they've put their prices up on everything by a massive amount, I'm not prepared to pay it.

I think my Club Sport V2 pedals have gone up by €110 since I bought mine and the CS wheel base is now €750 and Porsche rim is €400.

I'll make a final decision on whether I sell the Fanatec pedals after my Obutto Revolution arrives and is up and running. Hopefully next week some time.

It doesn't sound like you're quite ready for a race yet. Honestly not trying to be mean but getting a dq from leaving the track that many times tells you all you need to know.

Practice in test sessions until you can run the race length without racking up incident points. Then use practice sessions to build up your confidence around other drivers.

Watch youtube vids or faster drivers in practice sessions to get a better idea of where your braking points should be and the lines commonly used through corners.

There's a massive amount of vids and materials out there to help you find your feet, good luck and happy (i)Racing!

As much as I would love to agree, I just can't. Yes, I was disqualified but I do feel like it was a little harsh. I've just run the exact same race just now. After 20 laps, I finished 5th, two laps behind the leader.

Sure I did mess up in the early laps when I lost control (this was corrected within seconds). Then later on in the race someone spun out as you go down the hill, he was in the middle of the road so I tried going right and keeping it going was a tough job. I ended up spinning and smashing my front end on the barrier. I had to pit to have repairs made for this. There was also many racers who I had to drive around due to them making a mistake or spinning.

Again zero contact with any racers. On the first lap I had to be cautious of the guy to my right to make sure we wouldn't hit. So I don't feel that I'm just not good enough, just maybe that sometimes things like the first race can happen. I got (+0.09).

I saw they put up their price but not up the anti on their reliability issues. Don't think I will buy anymore Fanatec gear.
