iRacing

Agreed, it was going to be my first proper car purchase *well after the radical* Gravey will fall out of love if I dont buy the radical first lol.

So it was going to be my second purchase and a car i was interested in racing :(
 
I bought the Radical but have never raced it. To be honest I love the MX5!

Just ordered the Fanatec Clubsports so fingers crossed they'll arrive soon.
 
The v8 is really bad on iracing imo, the back end feels like its on ice no matter what you do. The aussies race it abit I think but they are way out of our time zone.

I only go on about the radical as its my fav car on iracing by a long shot, I'm happy with just me and josh racing it as we have a blast but more ocukers the better...

Bleek I ordered mine on saturday they was here wednesday, put the brake to the 2nd hole mate or they just feel like g27 pedals...
 
The V8 is still on the Old Tyre Model and is by far the most broken car on iracing. It should be good, they have been promising the NTM on it, but still aren't delivering. At iRacing you realise not to believe a single word they say about updates or releases.

When i first got mine i thought they felt great but i was between half and a full second off my old lap times i did with g25 pedals with bodnar box and it took me close to 6 months to get close to my old times but even now i know i was faster with the old pedals.

I do think the clubsports are fantastic pedals and love the feel while driving with them and would never want to go back to pedals with springs again so stick with them and speed will come. ;)

Have you guys pre-ordered Twin Ring Motegi im looking foreward to driving it and could host a OCUK session if enough takers.

i beat my times at the glen but there not much braking there.

ill buy motegi tomorrow so if you host it for the caddy im sure it will be full and ill defo join...
 
Not quite the choice I would've made, dega and daytona aren't really the same as 'normal' oval racing, both are just flat out draft pack racing, can be fun but you're guaranteed really stupid crashes that can take out half the field...

Just renewed for 3 months to see how it goes with the T500 RS wheel and check out the NTM as well.

You'd have thought that for a subscription based online service they'd have enough bandwidth to give me more than 60 KB/sec download speed. Certainly won't be playing tonight at this rate, still over 3 hours left.

Basically there's 3 very different 'types' of Oval racing imo (at least as far as iRacing is concerned)

Superspeedways - Daytona and Talladega, cars run a restrictor plate which means that the entire lap is foot flat to the floor, most of the field will be part of the draft pack, it's intense at times and even occasionally fun, but then some idiot fails and takes you and half the field out, and there's literally no way to avoid it...

Normal ovals - Places like Charlotte, Texas, Darlington. They're all different but they all involve various amounts of braking/line choice, eg actually 'driving', this can be good fun, and far more chance to avoid the idiot crashes

Short Tracks - Martinsville, Lanier, South Boston. Again good variety but all share the basic similarities. These are my favourite, hard on the brakes, requires proper handling/driving to get round quickly, can be an issue with nowhere to go when people crash though...

As GraveYard said, mine always seems to max out the connection at ~1.8Mb/s, so if it's only hitting 60kb/s either it's a short-term problem or it's your ISP :p

I always preferred the class-b car, although tiny margins I felt it was slightly nicer to drive (pre-ntm, now they're both ok) and with slightly cleaner races.

Ultimately I prefer the short tracks though, and (ignoring Bristol) Only the truck goes to one with Martinsville, so if/when I do run ovals again it'll be Late Models, SK or Tour Mods...

Doesn't start tonight though, tonight is the start of 'week 13' where there's very few official series racing (and you really want to avoid them) but lots more unofficial/fun races going on whilst they deploy the new build.

Season 2 starts on Tuesday 1st May :)
