iRacing

I think if I'd have waited until I'd done 100 clean laps in practice before I raced, I still be practicing now.

I wouldn't worry too much about the odd corner clipped too much, as long as you aren't all over the road and you can keep out of other drivers way then it's ok to race. As long as you start a race with the attitude of not taking someone else out, then you'll be fine.

^^ This

I always have the current race positions showing so I can see if anyone is close to me or if I need to let someone through (F3 key to show this).

If your much slower than someone I always think its better to get out of there way rather than blocking them and trying to race.

Are any of you guys in a league?

nice, gratz on the win :D

got a 15 mins TT oval session in last night (just get safety up a little more ;) ) before my mate came round with her macbook pro for me to fix.... damn they are a pain xD but then went out for food too so didn't get any races done.... tonight though.... tonight....I shall race..... maybe xD

no dont stream it mate, just concentrate on a clean race :D

Is it the Street Stock USA speedway you are planning to race?

we'll see ;) not like anyone would be watching anyway :p

and ummmm, street stock car on the Charlotte Motor Speedway...or at least that's what I've been practicing/time trialling. :)

All tracks for official races change over on a Tuesday. So if you've been doing TT's at Charlotte last week then it won't be Charlotte when you race tonight.

Yeah its changed to USA International Speedway, which is a much shorter track. I find it much more difficult than Charlotte as there is less room for error with it been a shorter track

ahhh FFS!!!! I've tried that track once I think, can't keep foot to the floor in the corners due to the tighter radius and shallower bank angle :( ok... maybe a prac session, a 10-15 min TT, then race :D

oh umm... to compete in a race do i need to take part in a qualifying session? I've seen that there's usually one race that I can join on the list despite me never being in a qualifying. :p doe this just mean I start from the back or like pits or something? :p

You don't have to qualify for any race in any series. If you don't qualify then you are assigned a grid position based on iRating, I think. If you do qualify, your qualifying time lasts for the whole week on that circuit.

I'd steer clear of the short oval track altogether, it almost always ends in disaster.

Yeah I agree, its a tough track and nearly always ends in a big pile up! But give it a go, whats the worst that could happen :D

Do you like road races? The Mazda Cup is very good :D

ahhh thanks for that :D guessing you can work on your qualifying time throughout the week too to improve it?

hummm might do as you previously said and just hang back and work on some clean laps. if it does end in disaster then maybe me being slow and "steady" in the back I might just win it haha!!! like those gloriously wet F1 races, a mistake up front, racers 1-10 taken out, people who normally aren't even in the top 10 getting podium places :D VICTORY WILL BE MINE! maybe :p

only tried the mazda a few times and it's just sooo spin happy in my hands xD so different coming from grid were I used to used the RS5 or the civic, so 4wd sliding round corners or screaming engine being thrown into corners nose first :p iracing is a different sport xD just gotta work on it :)

Yes you can improve your qualifying time throughout the week if you want to.

SLow and steady is always the best option till you have your track/car down to a fine art. Look at my first win, it was not because I was faster it was because everyone else crashed. Look at the lap times and you will see many people were a lot faster than me, so maybe it was luck or a brilliant plan on my part :D:D:D:D

The Mazda is rather skippy, it does take a while to get used to but once you do its a great little car to throw around the track.

just had a quick glance at your results from that race, nice ;) you did have the fastest average lap time though, good going!

To finish first, first you have to finish.

You can't win a race in the first corner, only loose it.

Remember well the wins you inherit, a back marker will wreck you when you're leading a race.
