Nice mate, let us know how the race goes![]()
7 laps went by fine but then I took it a bit wide on turn 4 as had a car on the inside of me so grazed the wall quite bad, all got past fine....except one guy who hit me about 3 secs after I said I'd stay high to let everyone past (as was now coming to turn 2). Just smashed my rear end
I pitted and managed to finish...all be it 17/18 (think 18 didn't run?)
managed to keep it low so again... most passed but they were still tight on the inside and i was running onto the grass...made me skid back across and one dude slammed into me again
with no more incidents
just gutted I slipped up
SR actually went up by +0.01 on the second race where I spun out
can't wait to get on this most of the weekend
now that I've crashed and it's been my fault I don't feel so bad as I managed to not cause a huggeeee pileup!
I was quite settled in the back and driving my line.... just trying to hug that white line around the banked bend and just got my toe onto the flat from a bit of oversteering *doh*.....ah well xD I'll blame my tiny steering wheel
(bad workman always blames....)
hell I don't wana spend £100 on it xD did see a thrustmaster 458 or what ever in store too but don't think it has FFB....so a sideways step more than anything.
)
"James Price"I found rookie oval to be the hardest class to get out of. The temptation to race hard always got the better of me and it nearly always ended in contact. Mostly avoidable contact if I'd given way or ran at the back out of trouble.
was rookie/D mixed I think....as I'm now in CatD ovalSR actually went up by +0.01 on the second race where I spun out

but yea, Think I was maybe trying too hard?I was quite settled in the back and driving my line.... just trying to hug that white line around the banked bend and just got my toe onto the flat from a bit of oversteering *doh*.....ah well xD I'll blame my tiny steering wheel

can't believe how much the g27 is still going for... what's more insane is that people are selling them second hand for around £160-250.....but I can get it brand new boxed for £200 from a a certain store....wtf people?!hell I don't wana spend £100 on it xD did see a thrustmaster 458 or what ever in store too but don't think it has FFB....so a sideways step more than anything.
also is there a way you can join on mates/get in the same race? (actual races...not practices...that's easy)

except tomorrow around mid day...going to take an actual car for a test drive i hope
yeah, myself and nuts tried to get in the same race at 11pm too. but there was something like 150 entrants? we both did a qualifying and had times out by like 0.02 from eachother so hoped we'd be in the same grouping.... but no
seems it's just random unless we entered private races?
that wheel has the FFB yeah and decent at it too? I try looking everywhere but ideally I want to spend under £50 second hand but think that's wishful thinking haha!
probably going to be on this most of the weekend so hopefully get some races togetherexcept tomorrow around mid day...going to take an actual car for a test drive i hope

yeah, I'm not trying to put too much of the blame on my wheel for my lack of skill
but it does lack any feel at all except that bungee cord which really is just to return it to center
even with no deadzones set up there's quite a bit of play around the top point... and feels like I'm driving with a teacup as the wheel is on the small side xD
it's all the options/extras where they get you
haha just kept clicking and watching the cost increase haha!
*dons my googling hat*You could definitely do with Force feedback, you can fell how much grip the car has and catch spins before its too late.
If you don't get a new wheel before LAN, i'll bring my G27 for you to try.
hopefully have an upgraded wheel by then but bring yours anyway so we can race and shizzles
(I just kept mine hidden it its box under the desk with stuff piled on it and it was safe
)I think the DFGT is based around the old Logitech Momo wheel.
I've owned the Momo, G25 and G27 wheels and the biggest difference is the pedals. The FFB getting better as you pay more, but not by the amount you'd imagine when you compare price difference. But you you get bigger improvements elsewhere, like an H pattern shifter and a clutch, but you tend not to use those in online races anyway.
I have a T500 at the moment and plan on getting a full top end Fanatec setup at some point. But I actual think it's the practice and experience that's made me faster, not my kit.
Some of the fastest drivers in iRacing use the DFGT.
Gear will deifnalty help you enjoy it and immerse you more which in turn means you will practice more which will only make you faster.I always play with default settings, whichever wheel I use.
I assume that the developers know more than me when it comes to those sort of things.
haha this is true xD if I change anything I'm sure it would be for the worse haha!

(Except me ofc lol)
