I thought I was doing well prepping for Watkins Glen in the SRF until I joined a hosted session with some of the top rated SRF drivers. 2 seconds a lap faster than me, how ??? LOL

Anyways, doing quite well 2 weeks in and 4th in my division in the SRF :)

I'd say that being within 2 seconds of the top-rated drivers was a reasonable achievement, maybe I have lower expectations! I always found the SRF a tricky customer.

Its just practice.

Ive not driven for 4 months or so and ive lost 4 seconds off my old times in the lotus 79 but after a days practice got back 2 seconds and id think it would take me a week to get all my time back.

Practice is definitely the way to get quicker. I used to be 4 seconds off the aliens, now I'm around 2 seconds off, sometimes less at the start of the week.

Sticking to one series or car helps as well.

I still don't think I'll ever be up there though, no matter how much I practice.

I honestly think that Occulus Rift will help me a lot with my pace, as even though I'm using a 32" screen, I feel I'm still missing out a lot with not running triples. It's a bit hard to look to the apex when I can't see it!

I use a single 24 inch screen and im quick well I used to be when I put the laps in.

Decent wheel and pedals and laps is what makes you fast no need for silly money kit either.G25 and single screen all you need to go quick.

Greger was fastest in the world for a decade with MS FF wheel.

Man, I've got the racing sim bug again. I sold my Fanatec PWGT2 a few months ago because I wasn't getting enough use out of it and bizarrely thought it was a good idea to get rid of it (I think I still have an active sub lol). Now I want in again :( I originally got that model to use with the Forzas, but I might just get a PWGT3 RS now because I honestly couldn't give a monkey's about Forza any more.

According to the wifey, my TL500RS has arrived at home to upgrade from old G25.

Going to use my modded G25 pedals with Nixim Progressive spring with the T500 wheel.

Currently running 2x7990 water cooled with 3930 O/C to 4.6 water cooled and triple 27 inch Asus monitors

For me it would be pedals, monitors and then wheel as priority for upgrades.

You know when you have the bug when you get up 1/2 hour early to get a qualifying lap / time in before work ready for the race when you get home :D

C Spec with Circuit of the Americas this week, what a pig of a track for the RUF, im nigh on 9 secs off the pace so far eek, far cry from the last 2 weeks where ive been in the top 10 fastest overall and 3rd-5th fastest in div2, current standing 11th overall and 3rd in Div2 - aiming for top 10 overall and top 5 in div2 for the end of season 2.

Have to say I'm not keen on Circuit of the Americas. Very technical, it doesn't flow for me. It's going to take a big ask from me to do 70 minute races on it.

Maybe more practice will change my mind.

Im not liking it either, doesnt seem to flow right at all, not sure what version your running in GT3 but the C Spec is on the west layout, way too tight for these, just understeers and then snap over steer mid corner for no reason at all, as you say more practice might make it easier but its not exactly fun more a grind.

I don't like the 1x's you get on it, put a tyre on those green runoff things and you get one. Race cars are meant to use them in real life.

This week I think 3 series are at COTA, might be a week off for me

GT3 series is the full circuit, the lap is over 2 minutes long.

As far as I know, you get a x1 if more than half the car is off track. So it's not like real racing whereby all four wheels have to go beyond the white line to be deemed to have left the track.

It does depend on the track, Watkins Glenn 1st corner and you can get a 1x off road quite easily if you touch the grass on the exit, but you can run as wide on the run off as you like before the grass which is over 10 car widths or more if your really screw up.
