Iran why...

They could've condensed that post into:

We're about to do something stupid.

Why?

Because we're stupid.

Even Yes Theory haven't been to Iran, and they went to Lebenon, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan etc

(Their team in front of the camera are Swedish & Egyptian)

Wow, my first thought reading that was they have an ulterior motive, making excuses why they have to go even though they have been warned not to.

Can't disagree with the Iranians POV about espionage and being spies, that's exactly what it looks like, what idiots they are, 0 sympathy.

Their last post is on the 3rd Jan, so a few days after that. It looks like the locals were treating them well, and as expected, the actual locals are usually nice. However, the regime is a different story.

I would assume that they totally failed to grasp the nature of the Iranian regime and its track record of repression and locking up foreign nationals to use as bargaining chips or whatever. We won't do anything illegal or political and we will be nice to everyone we meet, so all will be well...

Anyone who's ever read/watched/heard the news in the last 20 years would know that the Iranian regime is a terrorist group that hates westerners.

Are you talking about Digbeth? It is absolutely fine there and quite a fun place to go. The comment you're replying to seems a little xenophobic too so I think there might be a little prejudice at play there.

Granted I'm posting this from Rio where I spend a lot of time and is a place that would terrify most people, but tbh the world is a pretty friendly place overall if you're not taking unnecessary risks.
My comment is xenophobic? I'm just commenting on observations I've made and feelings I have. 1 of my best friends is of Indian origin, his parents emigrated from India, 1 of the locals who I always talk to when we see each other round here is black, he's lived here for about 20 years. Within the last 10 years or so there has been a big increase in different ethnicities moving round here, the community has changed.

I'm the type of person who says hello etc to the locals, none of these new comers are reciprocal to that. They stick together and don't mix or acknowledge anyone outside of their vicinity where they live i.e. there's a small block of flats round here now almost all ethnics, they all have hoods up during the day never acknowledge me when I walk past with my dog while they're messing with their cars outside etc.10 years ago I would be chatting to a lad called Chris there. I've tried to say hello they look right through me as though I'm invisible.

They're correct. Most people in the world are good.

Trouble is the smaller proportion that aren't good that tend to control everything and have all the power. They know this

I feel for them in that situation, I do not have any sympathy for how they got themselves into that situation.

@Noxia glad you found that amusing, would you mind sharing what was humorous with me please?

Edit: I guess it could be an age or generational thing. I'm older now than many of the residents around here and especially I'm older than many of the newer people around here. I think some people may feel less inclined to be civil to older people or different generations, idk.

Yet again seemingly smart people doing a very dumb thing.

I was thinking while glancing at one of their profiles after seeing stuff posted elsewhere - education doesn't necessarily make a person intelligent.

EDIT: On a kind of tangent though maybe something good will come of this in the longer run if it puts Iran under the spotlight but I'm not sure of that.

I’m confused, a youtuber i follow has been to all these ‘dodgy’ places like Afghanistan, Iraq, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Syria ect.

He’s been pulled over by the Taliban for a chat, they even took a selfie with him. What makes Iran more dangerous than these other places?

Iran love bring in the spotlight which is why they support hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria, the houthis in Yemen and hamas in Palestine. Not forgetting arming Russia against Ukraine. They would pale into insignificance otherwise.
Hence riding a big shiny motorbike across their front garden will raise their interest and make them think we can make some waves here and embarras the little Satan.

The Shah being imposed on them over attempting to gain sovereignty over their oil industry from APOC presumably remains a worthwhile grudge for them.

Realistically it's because they can and seemingly endless stupids keep supplying themselves to them for our embarrassment.
