IRC, anyone still use it?

Always using it.

First started to use it when I became a Admin for a gaming server for C&C Renegade, than later used it when I became a Tech for America's Army and now use Rizon for it's Anime community.

Still haven't found a decent PC community through, but there is enough Techies on some channels to have a good debate.

Ditto, I'm kinda after some channels where I can get involved in some decent conversations, help people out, and vent my frustration about Microsoft products.

I tried loitering in some Linux channels, but I ended up just being tech support for numpties who can't google.

I do miss it tbh. IRC was my first introduction to the social side of the internet. Bash.org was one of my go to websites for daily amusement for a long while

Remember people, IRC is just multiplayer notepad!

Not really used it since Quake 2 and 3, WoW kinda replaced IRC for us in the channel

i made a bunch of friends at a festival a few years back and now we're al the best of friends and IRC with each other daily, possibly one of the best ways to group chat still

Used it all the time in the clan days - TFC, Eve Online, CS 1.6, BF1942 etc. Used it for 5/6 years after I stopped playing TFC and the like to chat with rl friends (who also used to play TFC) and we only recently abandoned it for Facebook chat after our numbers started dwindling. At that point I was only using it through Trillian anyway rather than stand-alone.

I still use it occasionally for tech support on more obscure systems - the kind of people who know about them hang around on IRC
