Is a Salad Drawer called a Crisper in the UK?

Ah, once someone said it's where you store beer it suddenly made more sense!

:o

I'm guessing it's called a crisper then, because hot air tends to rise, thus the bottom of the fridge (along with traditionally having the freezer underneath as well) will be the coldest, which will keep salad fresher (Eg crisper) for longer.

In a fridge:

top - cheese / butter
2nd - meats
3rd - booze
bottom - fruit / veg
door - milk / fruit juice / tonic water etc

Have never heard/used salad drawer or crisper (wtf) before.

Packaged meats such as mince, lamb or chicken should go on the lowest shelf to avoid any juices dripping down from above and contaminating other foods :the more you know:

Always called it a salad drawer, never even heard of the term 'crisper' before. Though it is often used to store beers also, as mentioned above.
