is absynth deadly?

You'll know when the time comes to stop. Be careful though. Every time I drink it it has a weird effect on me. It gets my body drunk but not my mind. I feel completely sober or just slightly tipsy yet when I get up from the chair to walk I end up collapsing into a heap on the floor. It's deadly confusing.

What would happen then if you were sitting down the whole time, not feeling the effects then had far to much?

Surely this is dangerous stuff! Purely for your description of what happens I want some, I've heard of it loads but never drunk it.

urg been droppin straight vodka shots all night...cup'o'tea will soon sort out it out of my brain though!

we've drank half of it, i lit a lot of it, instant sick nearly.

I don't think you're mature enough to be drinking a lethal drink like absinthe, personally. You treat it with respect, not "drink half the bottle". Certainly the worst drink to have if trying to impress a ladyfriend.

Absinthe has a similar, but quicker, affect on me to Aftershock. I can take a couple shots and everything's great....but when I try to stand up twenty minutes later it's like watching an octopus tap-dance.

But one of the earlier suggestions was spot on - unless you're drinking with a weirdo, stick to wine or.....if you must drink absinthe, give it a trial run beforehand :)

Certain people get nice effects like hallucinations from it :D

Yeah Van Gogh Drank it :P

"It's particularly fashionable in medical circles these days to write endlessly about how the effects of absinthe and other commonly abused drugs of the day might have shaped van Gogh's art, for instance by causing him to hallucinate the halos and aurorae that often surround light sources in his paintings."

The rest of it

There's a small place in town thats a coffee shop, but is a good place to start a saturday night, cheap alcoholic drinks, and they have a bottle in there that 90%

It looks like something taken from a nuclear reactor :\

Did that before, proper dodgy. Already had 2 bottles of magners, half a bottle of apple sours and then did 7 shots of aftershock in one glass. Stand up and nearly fall into somebody.....stagger to the bathroom and spend the night in a very cold bus shelter in sauchihall street in glasgow.

I have learned my lesson and stick to one or two drinks for the night and dont do stupid half a bottle of aftershock stunts anymore. It means i can enjoy a night out and just about see if its a woman.....

I had the 80% stuff in spain, we had 4 shots of it back to back before going for a stroll down the beach,

All these sites seem to be based in England, like seborabsinthe and thedrinkshop, and they sell it.

Wikipedia wasn't very clear about whether it is legal or not here.

and how much of this can i drink before i become ill?
here is a story about an experiment on a guinea pig injected with 1/4cm3 of absinthe which might help you...

'At first it seems thunderstruck. It remains fixed in one place as if stunned. At the end of two or three minutes there follow on this stupor the most frightening agonies.'

'Suddenly it stiffens its paws, and then makes, all at once, a prodigious leap in the air. The poor little creature, ordinarily so harmless, takes on an entirely unexpected expression of ferocity. It resembles an hydrophobic animal with its convulsed face, its twisted lips covered with foam. In its eyes — wide open, haggard, convulsive, mad, one reads an impulse to kill.'

'It is now prey to hallucinations. Directly its spine curves in a half-circle. Its members and whole body are thrilled with shocks interrupted by plaintive cries. Then a brief moment of calm. The attack recommences, showing at each fresh crisis signs of accumulated violence.'
