Is Amir Khan getting too big? + all things Khan vs Canelo

Khan looks much bigger and his left arm and shoulder seems huge. Build up one side for the left hand?

Has anyone got any details on the gloves.

That was a great fight to be fair - neither of them really held back which made it far more interesting than a lot of fights of late at that level. Despite the concerns about him bulking up he still looked atleast a couple of months short of having the power needed to fight at that level though.

He was doing fairly well evading the heavy damage for much of the fight to be fair - but he just couldn't land hits with enough weight behind them to stay in the fight in the long run - then got a bit complacent/arrogant I think and was leaving himself more open thinking he was good enough to get away with it and got punished for it.

Canelo fought the perfect fight. Took himself a couple of rounds to adjust and time Khan. Then started slugging him with rights to the body. Hard ones at that... Khan went to defend 'another' hard right to his body, as he knew it would slow him and finish him, and boom, Canelo switched to upstairs... Canelo and myself, thought he'd permanently damaged Khan. It was good to see him get up and be able to talk after that. I hope he goes back down to 147, but truth be told, he probably hasn't got that many more fights in him after a brutal knockout like that. That was far worse than the prescott or Garcia KO's. This was a violent blow to the head, that he'll always be gun shy of from here onwards.

That is an interesting take on it - I noticed Khan was dropping his left and peddling some fancy footwork in round 6 I thought he was being a bit arrogant or dismissive of his opponent but he might have actually been trying to get Canelo to switch away from those hard rights if they were punishing him but wasn't prepared for the result :O one thing is for certain he can't tank damage at that level without enough power of his own to seriously trouble the opponent - he did a good job evading the damage as long as he did but it was only going to last so long without making a mark of his own.

It was always going to be a hit /w fast combo's and evade by getting out of there affair, to get to the scorecards, where he'd of probably lost anyway, (boxing for you!) BUT made a good enough impression to be given lots of respect.

This ended in the worst possible way for Khan. In such a brutal KO, that he'll probably never be the same fighter again.

Canelo is actually a smart boxer. Everything he did was according to plan. They say he's heavy on his feet. But look at his record, he's taken out some big names, whereas GGG who's he really fought? Its easy to look good against so so opponents. Not taking anything away from GGG, he's a top class middleweight... But he's no legend... not till he beats Andre Ward and Canelo.. Then and only then will we know he's got what it takes to be called the 1lb for 1lb numero uno.

Bottom line, without getting too far off topic lol I think Khan & his team, over estimated his ability to out maneuver and outbox Canelo.

GGG needs to beat Canelo and unify the division but he's a natural middleweight and far too small for Ward and far too big to move down a weight. He's basically a freak with very few options but moving up to fight Ward would be as stupid as Khan moving up to fight Canelo.

Boxing has no other option now than to get GGG v Canelo on. It's simple - if that match does not happen, it's everything that is wrong with boxing (politics, money, ego's, management etc)

Khan was brave to take the fight, his trainer wasn't wanting it - no one was. He's earn a very decent living from being a very good, but not brilliant boxer. He's had a couple of huge KO's which is more than enough for any fighter.

He's 30 this year - he's got to consider his long term health seriously as one more huge KO like that could be very very dangerous for him.

Never been his biggest fan as I never believed he has the defense to make it to be the top of his game, but he has to seriously sit down and consider his future plans.

I'm not really sure a heavier fighter would have coped with that blow, it's just poor defence there's no excuse for it really. Khan got the snot knocked out of him, literally.

That wasn't a massive shot TBH. Khan just makes punchers look great :p

Shane Mosley and De La Hoya would have brushed that off and gone after Canelo, but I don't think they would have fell for the bluff to the body to begin with. Canelo is just way too good for Khan.

Yeah Canelo appeared completely unfazed by Khan's stunts just went in there did what he had to do. People give Kahn **** but I thought it was one of the better fights I've seen in a long time - neither were pulling punches much or just concentrating on sticking it for 12 rounds and hoping to win on points.

I agree pound for pound, but Ward is 175lbs and too big for Canelo or Golovkin. Right now, pound for pound I would say Ward then Golovkin with Canelo very close. Sub 160lbs is stacked too tightly.

I think Chocalito Gonzales is probably the best pound for pound.. Thing is he only weights a few lbs being a flyweight, :D so will go largely unrecognised.
