Is anyone happy with F1?

Well at least there's regular meetings with the top teams, the governing body and other involved parties where they can sit down and come up with sensible ideas about how to improve the sport...

;)

I'm not actually bothered if the same person wins every race. I'd prefer competition, sure, but if there was just some actual wheel to wheel racing I'd be delighted.

How can they race wheel to wheel when they're going to get penalised every time that a steward says "you've transgressed a law, son....It might be an unwritten law but we're still going to apply it so pucker up!"....

Some people have a short memory, don't they.

Heh.

Hehehheh.

HehehehehhhhehheheheeeehheehehAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Short memories, around here? We've got them in spades....

Some people have a short memory, don't they.

What makes you think that the fastest car in the 2013 season still wouldn't be the fastest car with those rules?

I don't have a short memory. In fact I remember races with refuelling, with tyres that last and with boring races, won inevitably by the same driver on a regular basis. I can see your desire and thoughts but I doubt it would be that different. The problem is the regulations as they stand and the lack of money and Manufacturer support. As I've said I'd love a completely open Engine formula but it won't happen. Too expensive. I would also love to see tyres that can be raced hard but won't last a full race. The issue is you could not run at maximum speed for a lot of the race, do one less stop and somewhere like Brazil with it's long pit lane gain an advantage.

Fans said Canada 2010 when the tyres fell apart after only a few laps was the most exciting race in years. So the FIA asked Pirelli to develop tyres that did that. And that they did.

I can't understand what reintroducing refueling would bring to the table other than more pit stops?

Binning the 2 compound rule would be a start....

Not with the comical rules they keep introducing every year.
.

This, but pretty much everything else in the op is f1 as usual and has been like that forever.

I absolutely hate drs

They should specify fuel say 100kilos and you have to have 100kilos. That way they cant short fill, they will always short fill as it saves more time than a decent driver going all out. So just take it out of the teams hands.

Get rid of the two compound rule, it wrecks strategy. Bring back the chance of stopping 2 or three times for super softs, or stopping once for mediums.

Ban fia hand penalties out after the race, unless say it happens in last 10% of laps, even then they should try applying it in race. There should be zero need to talk to drivers, they have the telemetry. I would rather mistakes than stuff applied after race.

Set a time frame for how long after the race they have to apply any penalties. Until start of podium sounds good to me.

Open up ERS and heavily restrict aero that creates dirty air.

Be consistent on what they punish for and punishments, but keep punishments at a minimum as punishments spoil races, but obviously some things have to be punished.

Nope, it's a joke.

The cars have WAY too much downforce, so car's can't overtake when they're stuck in the dirty air.

DRS was just a comical way to introduce overtaking on the straights.

I don't mind the dominance of RB, it's just the lack of racing up and down the field that bores me.

F1 is the biggest joke in motor sport now. I just don't get the idea of having DRS\Kers to make false overtaking.
The FIA\FOM and the rest thinks it will make more people watch but what's happened is that less people world wide watch F1 now.

The highest global audience was when F1 didn't have kers\drs and crap tires so 560 million people can't be wrong.
And when the TV pundits say things like "now that was a REAL overtake" you know something is not right.

Next year it will be like this year but they will have to turn down the engine to save fuel ect. I'm glad MotoGp is still the same "race your heart out"

IMHO, they should:-

1. Get rid of the wide front wing. It looks stupid and more importantly, its too easy to damage.

2. Get rid of the 2 compound rule. Teams should use what they need to.

3. However, the pits close for the last 10% of the race.

4. Get rid of the driver-pit radio. Drivers should be able to operate their car on their own. Pit boards should be enough notice. Plus its distracting to the driver.

Kers is not false like drs is.
Kers is no different than turbos, everyone has it and can use it, unlike drs.

Not every team used kers in the same way ;)
And no I'm not coming back with links ect..it's mine and many other peoples opinion.

Teams dont use turbo in the same way back in the day, you never hear anything about it should be banned ots not racing and next year they can use ERS however they want.

So we get a procession from start to finish with any passes done in the pits? Sounds enthralling.

sure does :D

hamilton vs schumacher monza. (allow defensive driving ffs)

schumacher train valencia (push to pass is boring drs , kers is good though)

pitstops add an element of the unknown and bring back strategy and tension for the viewer.

people having to fight to overtake laped drivers allows gaps to close for the chasing car and somewhat forces people to overtake on the track and not the pits

even the worst schumacher years mainly had a proper title rival who could have won rather than the one horse race we had for the last few seasons.

it wouldn't be perfect but it would be a good start.

maybe some people only see overtaking as exciting though and drivers on each others gearboxs doesn't appeal to those people.

the current aero following isn't even that bad apart from the tyres go off far to fast , better tyres would likely have made it possible to follow closely and try to pressure a mistake from the leading car.

also let them race in the rain if people are falling off the track then it is their own fault for pushing to hard and not adjusting to the limitations of the conditions.

tbh I lost interest after it was clear at Spa and Monza that Red Bull were just dominant. didn't even watch a full race afterwards. kept tuning in and out hoping some unforeseen event would mix things up. it never really did.

now with guys like Pastor getting seats over Hulk, etc... I don't really care about this sport which almost doesn't qualify as one since it's too money based. I realize money is needed for motorsports but F1 is just too extreme in how it goes about it

will watch Webber in a Porsche, Blancpain, Indy and electric series when that kicks off. almost forgot will have to check out if Loeb can rattle Ivan Muller in WTCC

there isnt really any sport left i agree

it is odd people moaning and wanting hard tyres, that would make things even more boring

well, this thread say it all, many here are more than casual fans, not really any supportive comments

Like others I lost interest when the tyres were changed mid season gifting the year to Vettel. First half of the season was pretty good with Alonso and Kimi both doing well.

I'm not a fan of DRS, I'd like KERS to be unrestricted to really push the technology (some nice real world benefits to be had there), bring back ground effect due to it causing less disruption to airflow affecting following cars, tyres with a wider margin for error so drivers can actually push.
As it stands the only time you see the drivers going flat out is on a few laps of qualifying :(

cant see how that could possibly work - imagine coming out of a pit stop in a Ferrari, only for ....... an FI driver to continually press the KERS button when you are trying to overtake ....would completely ruin any possible strategy apart from probably the pole sitter

I think Im right in thinking that KERS still uses a small amount of fuel during activation, so Im suspecting you would end up seeing races with KERS being used constantly (and additiaonal fuel loads to match), and just cancelling each other out - the tactical use of KERS is what makes the system interesting, not the system itself (imo) from a racing perspective.

All the drivers use the KERS at the same point as it stands at the moment with very little exception, it wouldn't be any worse than it is now in my opinion.
With it being unrestricted you could potentially have an extra X bhp on tap permanently, or maybe just do a full discharge on a straight hitting stupid speeds. Would be great :D Opening up that much power at once would really push the tyres and driver skill without traction control.

you can have tyres with more grip than they do now that last for longer.
You don't have to have either rocks or marshmallows.

better front tyres that allow more aggressive turn in would be nice

They seemed to get it right for 2007 and 2008.The championship was won on the final race and it was a really good and exciting battle for the title......then after that it has just decended into an absolute farce of a sport.
