Is HyperThreading worth the extra £80?

So? People don't upgrade every year you know. We are using SSE3 for CPU control and we have developed up to 5... two versions behind whats the use in that? Software BARELY touchs quad cores currently in about 5 years time IB/SB will be being fully used. Im using a GPU thats 3 years old for example... it plays everything in high/ultra...

Not worth it if your just gaming, and in 2 years time Ivy will be outdated anyway. :)

I remember having arguments in another forum about the q6600 when it first released:o . When 4 cores are needed the q6600 will be outdated etc etc . All from the guys running dual core's . Well 5 years on and its still a very capable cpu .

thats my argument for thinking of going 3930k ....

True dat. Id just feel like Im wasting all that power for quite some years :p

depends on upgrade path in the future

I'm still undecided as well I have to admit - but if less than 200 than a 3770k + Z77 its not that much more

on my build of cpu, ram, mobo, and case - its the difference of 600 ish vs 800 ish - thats not that much of a difference really

Hmmmmm still can't decide between 3570k and 3770k.......tricky...

If you're tight on money and you plan on gaming then that £80 can be better spent on a better GFX card. If you intend on using programs which take advantage of hyperthreading and can stretch for the 3770K, then go for it.
