Is it just me or have the 'health fascists' turned Supermarket food into bland, tasteless mush?

A quick browse on Tesco and Ocado indicates most of them come in at 25% or less of daily max per portion. Same with ready meals. Is that "incredibly salty"? Maybe a bit on the high side if you aren't keeping tabs on what else you eat or you like to eat the whole pot, but doesn't seem "incredibly salty" to me.
As you suggest, people often have more than a "portion", which means you are then looking at up to 50% of your salt intake from a single meal.

Sure, I'll just grow everything in the back garden....right next to the livestock pens.
Easier to just buy the ingredients and make your owns soups but if you want to grow your own then it will taste even better. But beware when you start growing your own everything tastes bland apart from your own produce.

But they are incredibly salty! They are much saltier than a homemade soup would be. If you consume them regularly it would be easy to exceed your salt intake.

The RDA of salt has been significantly reduced since the nanny state health fascists got their way, so the salt content is very small compared to what it used to be when the RDA was a larger amount.

Saying nanny state health fascists is making you look a bit stupid, the RDA comes from science, it isn't just made up to make your food bland. If you don't like it cook your own.

It's very easy for your salt taste to become normalised. After I'd lived in China for a few years, when I moved back to Europe, *everything* tasted ridiculously salty for a few months until I got used to the amount of salt in our diet again.

Salt is incredibly cheap, if you're really determined to raise your blood pressure and heart disease risk, just sprinkle as much as you like on your food, and then moan when you're left on a trolley in a hospital corridor for days as no-one takes any personal responsibility for their health here anymore.

With that attitude, you should have stayed in China lol
